It's hard to look for a good place in Manila to eat real American Styled BBQ. I had to drag myself around the metro just to look for it. With one dinner, it all changed. I think I found the perfect place in MAKATI. Hello WOODY'S. An appropriate name for a restaurant this good. It makes me STAND UP and Eat.

What used to be the old Chihuahua Mexican Grill, WOODY'S TEXAS BAR-B-Q took over the place.
Before you enter, you are greeted with a huge smoker. A definitive sign that would make a foodie like me enter the premises with gusto.
The place is reminisce of an old school barn like bar feel. A chill and relax place perfect for a nice dinner with the buddies.
Drinks are lined up on the wall. Craft beer all around with a little explanation as to what to order. And you could go for a huge ass mug for beer.
I would have to go for their cold drinks though. A Spicy Bloody Mary or a slushy. Can be a long island or my personal favorite, Rhum Coke. Not too strong and is addicting. Perfect since they also offer two for one everyday from 4-7pm. Happy Hour indeed.
If the night needs it, some Jello Shots are warranted. These Vodka based shots are a joy to drink or eat or whatever. Jello shots for the win. Slurpy!
To order, you need to go to the counter and pick whatever you may fancy.
I was able to take a sneak peak at the meat and it just blew me away. Seeing how it was smoked and just by looking at it, I would definitely want to try this out. What an amazing sight and smell and taste!!!

In true Chihuahua fashion, the chef let us enjoy something off menu. Some old school nachos smothered with different toppings and a few shredded meat in it. Perfect way to get the dinner started.
To make things easier, they made the menu with the diner in mind. Either go for a sandwich or just pick what type of meat you would want. Leaving us to argue and decide what type of side dishes to stuff our tummy with.  Side dishes such as Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Country Beans, Dirty Rice or the MAC n Quezo

For light eaters (BOO!), they have SLIDERS. You could have the pork, sausage or brisket in them.
For the big guys,
a must try would have to be the CLUTCH CITY SANDWICH.
Stuffed with brisket and links, the added coleslaw balances the smoky flavor. One bite and you are in meat heaven.
For others though, it would be best to have get the plates. We were able to try out all type of meats WOODY'S was offering. From PULLED PORK to RIBS to BEEF BRISKET
To Texas Hot links.
It is a personal preference, I believe when it comes to a flavor of a dish. Some would love their meat a little bit salty or maybe smokier. Different flavor profiles are there for each one of us. BUT, I believe you could get something you like from the different meat dishes they serve at WOODY'S.

Honestly, I enjoyed each one. The PULLED PORK gave that balanced smoky flavor. It would make me want to order more rice. The RIBS were tender and fall off the bones. Flavorful to perfection. The BEEF BRISKET is something that is a bit heavy. Smoked for a minimum of 8-12 hours. That will say something about its flavor and texture. The handmade TEXAS HOT LINKS are not your ordinary sausage. Spices upon spices were packed into this sausage. You may or may not use their winner sauces but be sure to try out their "hot and peppery" sauce. It is an awesome way to get killed from excellent meat overload.

They also have some desserts that could entice you not to get full quickly.
For softdrink lovers, they have a Coca-Cola Cake.
It was a bit too sweet for me but my friends liked it. It is a basic chocolate cake topped with gooey icing.
The favorite though was the APPLE PIE. Crumble upon crumble. Piece by piece. I found myself with a forkful every time I see it. The apple slices were perfectly hidden from plain sight and that the crumbles just blended well with the sweetness of the ice cream. I die.

WOODY'S is the perfect place for the barkada. Open till late at night, this place would offer the food to sober up. With drinks not that expensive and the meat perfectly cooked, I would have to say that it is a worthwhile visit. Although parking is bit of a hassle, the pulled pork and the ribs would definitely drag me back. Don't get me started again on that Apple Pie. YUMMY!
