LOLO JOE'S BACON: Perfect Breakfast Treat

GLORIOUS BACON. Nothing can ever compete with this sexy piece of meat for breakfast. You can't deny its appeal to the senses. Smell it at the right time and you get your switch turned on.
Some may say that bacon is bacon but still, there are different types of it. Some are mass produced while others are artisinal. Just like LOLO JOE'S BACON. Prepared with no artificial preservatives and a lot of love, you could definitely taste and feel the difference. Available at 13 Ubay Restaurant in Quezon City, you get to enjoy each bite. Being marinated with brown sugar, it could give off a bit of sweet flavor. Perfect contrast to the salt used to make this a balanced piece of meat. Just make sure that the pan is hot and you add it up. Listen to it sizzle and the result is premium art work.
With the excess fat drippings from the bacon, one could think of so much things to do. Breakfast seems right so egg and fried rice did the trick.

LOLO JOE'S BACON is available at @LOLOJOES in IG and LOLOJOESBACON in FB. Check out 13 Ubay while you're at it.

FAT DADDY'S SMOKEHOUSE in BGC'S BURGOS CIRLCE.

A must place to pig out, FAT DADDY'S in BURGOS CIRLCE, BGC is a gem in plain sight. Already their second branch (after Marikina), FAT DADDY'S SMOKEHOUSE enjoy a following among foodies. Looking in, the place seems simple and neat. BUT, this is where you go to enjoy good food and better company.  Diners will rejoice with all the MANLY dishes they serve.
Starting strong, you might want to try one of their famous milkshake. The SMOKEY MAPLE BACON (150Php). A nice blend of sweet and salty all rolled into one cold drink.
Trying to be healthy, FAT DADDY'S serve salads with a little oily twist. These dishes would be perfect for someone that is trying to go on a diet but still loves bacon.

Something to warm up the taste buds, the WILD MUSHROOM SOUP would do the trick. Three different kinds were used to create this dish. Crispy bits would greet you as you take the first spoonful.

Something that I personally enjoyed was the CRISPY FRIED PICKLES (165Php). Huge cuts of pickles were deep fried to perfection. Making me one happy camper.

A couple more deep fried starters that put FAT DADDY'S on the map would be the HOT PORK POPPERS (175Php) and the BUTTERMILK FRIED LIVERS (185Php).
Rubbed Pork belly was used to make the poppers more flavorful. Partnering it with the vinegar sauce would make someone crave for rice. Another interesting and well executed dish, the LIVER was pretty good. The use of the buttermilk and other seasoning was able to mellow down the strong flavors.
Cheesy dishes would make great comfort food. FAT DADDY'S makes them pretty well.

The HOT MESS (360Php) and the MAC and 4 CHEESE (320Php) are classic examples of what hot cheese dishes should be. The Hot Mess is their version of mashed potato with loads of cheese, bacon and pulled pork on top. The MAC and CHEESE meanwhile, would fulfill your childhood fantasy of having amazing home made bacon with those macaroni. Cheesy, salty, damn GOOD!

For someone that is truly hungry, their main dishes would be your best bet.

The braised short ribs is slow cooked and is partnered with bourbon sauce. This gives it a little twang on the palette. On the other hand, one could go for some salmon or shrimps just to getaway from all the meat.

For a huge party, it would be better to go for their SMOKED and BARBECUE MEATS.
A whole range of flavors and meat experience would greet the diners. The Beef Brisket, hot links, bacon slab, and even a bacon slab.  These are done right. You won't go wrong with any.

Side dishes would also be a welcome partner for the mains. I would suggest going for the dirty rice and the bacon and chives corn bread. The rice has a little bit of saltiness and the corn bread gives you a different mouth feel from all the meat.
Dessert is a big thing in FAT DADDY'S. If there is only one dish for you to try, it must be the BACON and SMORES DIP. Homemade smoked bacon provides the salty component while the chocolate ganache and marshmallows give you that sweet ending.

FAT DADDY'S SMOKEHOUSE in BGC is that place where you want to go to if you want to pig out.  Aside from smoked and barbecued meats, the starters are well executed. They also serve burgers and other pasta dishes for variety. These are delicious and yet very deadly. As with everything good, always keep things in moderation. Cheers.

Livestock: Where You Pig Out!!!

Bacon Bacon Bacon ... Pork Pork Pork.. Enough said!!! I must have been circling the area  twice just to figure out that I am lost. Stupid me couldn't find the Livestock because a map I looked at over the internet (read: Zomato) placed the restaurant on the wrong side of the long Sgt. Esguerra Avenue. Argh. That and the GPS on my SUV can't work for its life... But on that steamy, hot and sweaty lunch time, I had one the most epic meals I had in a long time. Yeap..It was worth it.

What used to be a place where you would see JT Manukans and other grill restaurants, was now transformed into a compound where some up and coming restaurants are located. One building was solely dedicated to Livestock. The place famous for one thing. PIG!!!!!!!
I got an invite from Sir Richie of Pickiesteater like 11am and I know if its from him.. I would definitely say yes..Even if I was half asleep on my cozy bed and butt naked... but that's another story for another day LOL!

Along with awesome old school veteran food blogger friends (peace po!!!), we started the meal with something genius.
The Pig Wings (3pcs 320/ 5 pcs 440). Crispy bacon wrapped chicken wings in buffalo sauce.
At first, it looked to me as if they were huge shrimps. I was pleasantly surprised to figure out that its just chicken wrapped with bacon!!! YUMMY!
The Drunken Mussels (330Php)
I am not much into tahong or mussel so I just tasted the soup and it was lovely. The soup had a base of beer broth and of course some herbs.
As if to say, hey let's start with something a little bit different, we were served Seafood Laksa Soup (290Php.)
For someone who loves to get healthy at times, they got a Ceasar Salad (230Php).
Just move the bacon aka lechon kawali aside and you are good to go.. Personally though, I love the crunch it gives so no I won't be moving it aside. hahahaha!

They also offered their take on Pork Cheek Ragu (375Php).
The red wine sauce complemented the pasta very well.
To accompany the pasta, one also must have pizza. Wouldn't you know it that this particular place also serves pizza. We had the Adobo & Kesong Puti Pizza (395Php).
Quite weird combination but it really works.
Before the main events, the Mushroom Duxelle Fish Fillet (289Php) were presented to us.
Fillet of fish in lemon butter caper sauce then topped with mushroom duxelles. The topping of mushroom really works well!!! Yummy!

and now comes the big boys.

The first of whom is the Livestock Crackling Pork Belly
(300g 290Php 500g 490Php 1k 895Php.)
This epic of a piece of meat has a crunchy exterior skin and a flavorful meat inside.
The meat is soft and tender. The choice of sauces compliments it well.
In case you aren't a pork belly fan, well I know that you are a crispy pata person! You better be!!!
The Melts In Your Mouth Crispy Pata (590Php)
This baby is awesome!!! The fact that you could use a popsicle stick to crack this open is epic!
The flavor also doesn't disappoint. With the sauce and the meat you won't go wrong.
Just get a cup or two of plain rice and you are set!!!!

With livestock, in case you haven't seen the pattern yet, they try to incorporate everything with bacon!!! So you would definitely enjoy their Bacon Ice Cream Sandwich. (180Php)
It is their take on French Toast and ice cream but with bacon in it. Definitely yummy and it works!!!
Now for those health nuts, they also have the Salted Chocolate Fondue (210Php)

I love how the kiwi, banana and the mallows goes well with their chocolate dip mix. It was the right amount of texture and it was smooth and fine.

I enjoyed the meal too much that of course, we couldn't finish everything. It was also interesting to talk and dine and have fun with cool bloggers. (Mama bear of Sugargospice.com, Kathi of Mucking Around Manila, Len of The Mommist, Richie of The Pickiest Eater and of course his lovely Birthday Girl wifey Rina of Rina's Rainbow.)
