CHRISTMAS PARTY AT BROTZEIT SHANGRI-LA MALL

If there was one place that I would like to have some beer loving, it would be BROTZEIT. Known as the place to visit for your European Soccer needs, this German bar has a ton of drinks available. Just this weekend, my friends and I in the Kain Tulog Gang had an intimate gathering. A Christmas Party of sorts with all the old fellas over. Been friends with most of them roughly 7 years makes this a must go to event.
BROTZEIT SHANGRI-LA is located in the alfresco area of Shangri-la mall in Mandaluyong. Parking could be a problem but valet is always available. I did arrive late because of the Christmas Rush but the spread was just amazing. I started with the GRAZING BOARD. Ham, different types of cheese, jam and even pretzel ensaymada. This is a must for snacking and drinking.
Salad wise, I was impressed and surprised. I didn't know that Brotzeit offers these healthy treats. One could be a seafood version with seared tuna, shrimps, and smoked salmon. The other is more a more party take on salad. The FESTIVE WINTER SALAD has a mix of lettuse, beetroot, brussel sprouts and caramelized carrots. Cranberries and nuts were added to the fray as well.
The spread was filled with different types of SCHNITZEL. Along with a number of side dishes like mashed potato and sauerkraut, I was pretty happy.
Something for the season, one of them was covered with tomato sauce and cheese. For me though, the BREAKFAST SCHNITZEL was the star. Topped with deep fried egg, bacon and other goodies are sandwiched in between two schnitzel.
Of course a visit to BROTZEIT will never be complete without the PORK KNUCKLE. Somewhat similar to our Crispy Pata, their version employs more meat and skin. The outer layer is crunchy and the inner moist!
Before I forget, I did enjoy the PRETZEL ENSAYMADA. These cuties weren't as sweet as the traditional version but were just perfect to partner with everything.

One should not leave BROTZEIT without the trying the drinks. Aside from the different high-end draft beer they offer, they also have a number of perfect for the holiday treats. One could go for WINTERBIER which is a specialty that is brewed for the cold winter months. Another would be the MULLED WINE which is a GERMAN Christmas Tradition. It's wines filled with aromas of cinnamon and orange. If you're not into alcoholic drinks, you should try their spiced Christmas Hot Chocolate.

BROTZEIT in BGC: CHINESE NEW YEAR PLATTER

Something delicious comes with BROTZEIT'S CHINESE NEW YEAR PLATTER. Only available until FEBRUARY 5, 2017 SUNDAY, this huge selection is good for 3 to 4 people and is perfect to partner with anything alcoholic.
Trying it out in BROTZEIT'S newest branch in SHANGRI-LA FORT BGC, one can never go wrong with anything on the menu. The whole thing goes perfectly well with their top class beers. Personally, flavored ones like the cranberry, mango and even spiked with vodka and lime are great choices.

Starting off with some grilled SALMON, the saltiness works well with a bit of citrus flavor from the lemon. Very clean and smooth.

The ROASTED PORK BELLY was served with beer sauce. The skin was crunchy and the meat was moist and decadent. It was a perfect combination to the different beers that were served.
The most impressive item on the platter would have to be the ROASTED CHICKEN.
This isn't like your ordinary roadside poultry. The chicken was marinated with different sauces, herbs and stuffed with lemon. The different flavors popped out. The skin was juicy and the meat was flavorful and not dry.
Accompanying it was 3 kinds of mushrooms and a couple of sides. While the cabbage in garlic sauce was just okay, the sweet potato mash worked wonders with the meat. The mushrooms complimented everything too.

BROTZEIT'S RECOVERY FOOD: Perfect for the Season.

When it comes to drinking, one place comes to mind, BROTZEIT. We all know that BROTZEIT offers authentic and honest to goodness selection of beers and alcoholic concoctions that would make you go all out.
 Recently, they are prepping for OCTOBERFEST and as such, came out with a new line up of RECOVERY FOOD. Amazing dishes lined up to soothe the soul and the mind.

 Perfect dishes meant to help you relax and recover from that headache and even a hungover.
Not only that, these dishes are perfect for that broken heart or even that cold feeling we get from the rainy season.

To start things off, the MARINIERTES RINDFLEISCH MIT KARTOFFEIN would make you relax.

 I know the name is a mouthful, but you could just say what it is. A corned beef soup. In house corned beef with potatoes and carrots are the main ingredients but the soup is so filling and delicious. The meat is tender and absorbed the flavors. 

If soup isn't your thing, you have to try the RINDSRAGOUT. BEEF stew with buttered spaetzli, apricot and cranberry.

Another must try is the comforting HUHNERBRUST-EINTOPF IM BLATTERTEIG. This chicken dish is stewed in beer with carrots and pearl onions. The onion gives the dish texture. The Chicken is moist. Yummy.


I was surprised with the LACHS MIT ROSOTTO. The SALMON was perfectly cooked and the risotto was beer infused. You may think that it looks a bit pale but when you give it a try, you will like it.

 One can't go to BROTZEIT without their version of a CRISPY PATA. Yes this behemoth of a dish came with a plethora of side dishes. The skin was crunchy and the meat flavorful. DAMN
To end the meal, they had desserts that helps you recover from the epic meal. 
HEISSE SCHOKOLADE and the SAHNE-FLAN MIT RUMTOPF. The schokolade or HOT CHOCOLATE drink is comforting. Made with bittersweet chocolate and topped with whipped cream, you can't go wrong with this favorite. It made me remember my childhood days, when life is all good because of chocolate. The Sahne-flan or Vanilla pudding is topped with rum braised fruits so it gives you that sweet alcoholic taste.

Another one to try is the BAYRISCHE CREME or Bavarian Cream with Strawberry Preserve.
Not too sweet and just right.

Since, we are trying to recover and I know it is a cycle. You can't help but say, to hell with it and still want a drink or two.
Here comes the new beers that are available. The ORIGINAL WEIHENSTEPHANER and the WHEAT BEER, the HEFEWEIBBIER.

I'm no beer enthusiast but one thing is for sure... It's a definitely a good time to start now. One is sweet while the other just right.

PROST!!!! Admittedly, BROTZEIT has some difficult terms to remember, good thing we could always rely on suggestions and also the staff has the knowledge needed to explain everything on the menu. I am definitely going back for OCTOBERFEST !!!! CHEERS!
