JING TING: LATE NIGHT CHINESE FOOD IN CITY OF DREAMS MANILA

I know that carbs like rice or noodles is a bad thing to take on when it's late at night but sometimes you got to live on the edge. It's something that you might need just because you're feeling tipsy and has had a glass or two of your favorite liquor. If all else fails, there's this one thing that could get your stomach going. It's CITY OF DREAMS MANILA'S JING TING.
Located on the second floor and just a stone throw away from Chaos and Pangaea, JING TING is the place to be at late at night. They create fresh noodle and dimsum dishes among others. They focus all their energy to make you happy and enjoy the night away. In our case, it helped all our appetite to cope with the late night drinks.

If dumplings are your thing, they have a number to choose from. You could go for their deep fried versions or steamed. Either way you're in for a treat. Some might say that they might seem a bit bland but the presence of the dipping sauce makes them flavorful to the max.
Noodles are a specialty when in JING TING. You could opt for something soupy, dry or even stir fried. It's something that you could definitely have a fun time choosing between.
The beef noodles are quite a specialty. It's something that could soothe your feelings after a long night.
My personal favorite though would be their stir fried noodles. This right here had the right blend of oil and spices. It wasn't overly greasy. On the contrary, it was perfect. This alongside the appetizer COLD SHREDDED RICE ROLL with Sesame Sauce works.
Now JING TING also offers some main dishes other than just noodles and dimsum. They have deep fried dishes such as this sweet and sour pork belly. The breading was crunchy but the meat inside was moist and tender. It was perfect with rice.
For dessert, they have a lot to choose from as well. One thing that I enjoyed was the custard bun. The filling was liquidy and oozes out with each bite.
You know what's perfect? When you get to eat amazing dishes with good friends. It's something that I truly enjoy. JING TING is open from 11am to 4am daily. It's perfect for late night engagement. Cheers!

5 Reasons Why You Should Have Sunday Brunch in HYATT CITY OF DREAMS MANILA

As a foodie, I always have one of the most problematic job of answering the most asked question ever. "Where will we eat?". It's always "saan tayo kakain?!".  It's quite hard to satisfy everyone's cravings and appetites. Thankfully BUFFETS were made.
If there was one SUNDAY HOTEL BUFFET to visit, it would be THE CAFE in HYATT CITY OF DREAMS MANILA. This huge restaurant houses different theaters that would and could cater to your needs, wants, and desires. Here are 5 reasons why you should come on over and visit THE CAFE during SUNDAY BRUNCH.
1) One of the main draw of the Sunday Brunch is their offering of lobsters. Granted that these are slipper lobsters, you could have them cooked based on your preference. Also, they have shrimps, clams, and crabs just to add to the frey.
2) Just beside it, they have an amazing oyster bar that has a huge spread of Fine de Claire Oysters. These aren't your ordinary versions. They are imported and have a sweeter note compared to other oysters I have tasted.
3) They have an extensive carving station. Not only do they have a fine looking roasted pig aka lechon, they also have this HUGE WAGYU BEEF. It's like your dream just came true. It's juicy and tender and terrific. No need to worry as the chef manning the station could grill it for you based on your preference.
4) THEY HAVE FOIE GRAS.
Mic drop and set. These babies are cooked right in front of you. You have the option to add different toppings that would go well with them. Personally, I know that having too much would be bad for you but I had 7 of these babies. My goodness, they were amazing.
5) The buffet comes with unlimited drinks and a selection of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages. Just having a glass or two of mojito with your sparkling wine sounds right about perfect for brunch.
Of course, The Cafe at the HYATT has more to offer. They have tons of dishes in the spread plus more scrumptious delights like the crispy pata and even a huge shank cooked in red wine.
Also, don't forget to go for their tempuras. They have a number for you to choose from but personal fave would be the ebi or the shrimp.
Of course, they have a number of sushi and sashimi available as well.
And just to top it all of, they have a long table spread filled with sweet endings.
The CAFE at HYATT CITY OF DREAMS MANILA is the all day buffet restaurant of the hotel. The Sunday Brunch buffet spread is at  Php 2,999 nett. This comes with free-flowing sparkling wine, local beer and selected cocktails. You also have the option not to have the alcoholic beverages at a discounted price of Php 2,799 nett. Sunday Brunch is inclusive of shucked oysters, wok-fried lobsters, seafood on ice, and Spanish Iberico cured ham.

Breakfast daily is at Php 1,300 nett
Lunch Monday-Thursday is at Php 1,638 nett

HYATT CITY OF DREAMS MANILA: DISHES TO TRY AT THE CAFE

One of the things that I look for when visiting a restaurant or a hotel buffet would be the staff and the people behind them. Of course, food quality and choices are on the top of the list but the people behind the counter matters a lot as well.
Just a week back, I found myself in the CITY OF DREAMS MANILA. To be more specific, I was in HYATT'S The Cafe. During this event, I met the newest FNB director of Hyatt City of Dreams Mr. Chad Ogdenn. He brings with him 27 years of rich culinary experience while working in different hotel and restaurants around the world. With his new post, he brought in his love for food. I believe you can't be in the industry without being madly deeply in love with it. Because of that, I'm pretty much happy with how things are looking up at HYATT CITY OF DREAMS MANILA.
Going back, the buffet at The Cafe is still large and spacious. You get a dose of different cheeses and appetizers, main courses, Chinese cuisine, pasta, pizza, meat carvings and a long line for dessert items.
Aside from the different items that you could pick, Chad has a few favorite dishes that you have got to try. These would include the yakitori, deep dish Chicago style pizza, and even the black pepper beef.
Personally though, I'm in love with their take on the crispy pata. Juicy, tender, and moist, it can't get better than this. The crunchy skin is the most soft after piece of the pata. You gotta try their version out.
The Cafe is located at the Ground Level of Hyatt City of Dreams Manila. You could contact them at (632) 691 1234 extension 1162.

CITY OF DREAMS MANILA: NOBU and its Buffet.

It never ceases to amaze me. Simple and straightforward as it seems, the NOBU BUFFET is one of the best Japanese Buffet in the metro.
Guests are greeted by a long line of fresh sashimi and sushi rolls to delight even the pickiest eater.
Aside from the delicious Japanese pancake, soup and sea bass dishes, guests are treated with pass around plates like this amazing shrimp popper. Properly coated and marinated, these crunchy shrimps are delightful.
A couple more stations that needs a lot of attention from patrons would be the grilling and the carving station.
Freshly cooked, selection of seafood, vegetables and meat are prepared in a simple manner. Sauces are made exclusively for these sticks. Be ready to mix and match so that you're able to maximize the dishes' flavorful profile.
Another must visit area of the buffet would be the carving station. TO give NOBU a bit of Filipino flair, they chose to serve their in house lechon or roasted pig. Diners are asked which part of the meat they would love. The crunchy skin are aplenty and the insides are moist and tender.
Dessert is an important part of the meal. In NOBU, they take care of this properly.
Aside from cakes and other pastries, they specialize in creating their own ice cream blends. From different flavors to even truffle parfait, guests are assured of variety.
The most luxurious dessert would have to be the matcha fountain. Decadent and indulgent, you could pick from different fruits to dip into this concoction.
Admittedly, the NOBU buffet isn't as big as it's competitors. What they lack in quantity, they make up in quality and the flavors of each dish they produce.

CRYSTAL DRAGON: A Gem In Plain Sight

It's not everyday that I get surprised.  Sometimes it could be good, often times, fantastic. But definitely, it is always unexpected. Rather than having something routine, you get to experience another level or dimension if you will. At CRYSTAL DRAGON, I was more than surprised. I was astonished.

Through the looking glass, CRYSTAL DRAGON'S atmosphere is very different from the outside. Here your visual senses are treated to a stylish and contemporary feel. It seems you are transported to a magical place that serves delicious Cantonese and regional Chinese Specialties.
To start off, different interpretations of the usual dim sum were placed on our plates. The CANTONESE STEAMED THREE DIM SUM COMBINATION had created an interplay between each other. The Scallop and Mushrooms had spinach wrap to give it a more healthier feel. The Crystal Prawn was fluffy and filled with small shrimps, making sure that there was no room for extenders. On the other hand, a bolder dumpling would be the Crab Meat and Abalone. Encased in a squid ink wrapper and topped with a gold flake, this would definitely bring good fortune.
Making great use of what the sea has to offer, the kitchen produced the BRAISED SUPREME SEA TREASURE BROTH with FISH ROE. This soup was filled with texture and flavors that were not overpowering one another. The crab meat went well with the fish roe while the broth wasn't too heavy. Perfect way to relax the appetite.
When the WOK FRIED TIGER PRAWN was set on the table, the sense of smell was lighting up. There was a buttery and citrus aroma that filled the room. The Prawn was cooked to perfection. It wasn't dry as one would expect. Rather, it was juicy.
Something different would be the PORK RIBS with KUAR BOA. Served with Mongolian sauce and vegetables, this is a different take on fine dining cuisine. One could create their own sandwich from the pork ribs or eat it as is. The sauce gave the dish a balanced taste.

A crowd favorite, you must order the HAND PULLED NOODLES with SHREDDED US FARMED DUCK. This course creeps up to you from behind. After one or two slurps, you get a tingling sensation at the back of your tongue. It has a bit of spice in it and yet you would continuously look for it. It wasn't overwhelming and was just right for this kind of dish. Using the US FARMED DUCK made it leaner and gave it more texture to bite on.
Dessert is an excellent way of displaying how Chinese Cuisine could be versatile and yet familiar to the Asian tongue. After the exquisite courses, the kitchen introduced two dessert dishes. The first one was the MANGO SPHERE COCONUT MOUSSE. At first look, you might think of it as an egg. One scoop in and you are greeted by a gelatinous, almost liquid treat. The coconut and mango greets your taste buds making sure that the flavors intertwine. The sweetness is precise. There seems to be a science in this as they created the perfect dessert.
To celebrate the mid autumn festival, MOON CAKES were prepared by the Chef Bong. Not just any moon cake but SNOW SKIN MOONCAKE. These are actually healthier version compared to the traditional ones which uses more oil and sugar. Almost similar to mochi in terms of texture, three home made flavors namely: WHITE BEAN PANDAN, RED BEAN CHOCOLATE and CUSTARD STRAWBERRY were created. Out of the three, the Strawberry Custard stood out as it was tame and yet refined. The pandan was refreshing while the red bean and chocolate played well with one another.

Speaking of, CHEF BONG JUN CHOI is a natural. Being born in Malaysia, his Chinese Roots brought him back to China and into its culinary world. Being able to study, practice, teach, and even judge proper cuisine is why CRYSTAL DRAGON got him as their executive chef. Having a culinary experience of 39 years would definitely made this man a master in Chinese Cuisine. Believe it or not, most of the chefs in other Chinese Restaurants in the Metro look up to Chef Bong as he is their mentor and friend.
CRYSTAL DRAGON is an exquisite example of a surprise waiting to be unleashed. Initially intended just for high rollers, this Chinese Restaurant is an exclusive treat to all the guests of CITY OF DREAMS. You could check out and make a reservation to CRYSTAL DRAGON here.
