EDSA SHANGRI-LA HOPFEST: 2017 Beery Important Event

Since it is October, one of the things that I look forward to during this month would be the celebration of Oktoberfest. Mainly to enjoy good times with friends and loved ones, this German festival is perfect for the Filipino community.
This coming October 14-15, Edsa Shangri-La will be the home of HOPFEST. A gathering of more than twelve local microbreweries that will offer more than thirty beer variants. During this time, guests could either go for a beer flight for only 500Php or a package that could have unlimited craft beer and wood-fired pizza for Php1,200.
From 3-11pm, the pool side bar will be transformed into the place to be at. Beer will be free flowing for BEER-Y important persons and it would be one heck of an event.
Just over the weekend, a media preview was held to give a sneak peak into some of the beers that would be present during the HOPFEST.

Different courses were served and paired with craft beers that were locally made. One very notable drink would be the LIMELIGHT. Specially brewed for Edsa Shangri-La, this beer goes down easily. It's light in a sense that it isn't too bitter. It goes well with seafood dishes as well.
HOPFEST would be on October 14-15, 2017. From 3-11pm at the pool side bar, guests have the option to go for a beer flight (500Php) or go all out and indulge with unlimited beer and pizza at (1,200Php).

MAGURO NIGHTS at CROWNE PLAZA ORTIGAS

Located in the CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL in ORTIGAS, 7 Corners is a buffet restaurant in a hotel that started it all. A few years back, this was the place to be. Right now, they are improving and trying out new dishes to entice guests to return.

From now till the end of January, they have MAGURO NIGHTS. Here, they serve fresh whole fish tuna as sashimi. Cut on the spot, you are given smooth pieces of fish to start with.Other than that, patrons are assured of their hits and specialties. Things that keep people coming back for more.
One could start with some personalized salad alongside different slices of meat and cheese.

Pasta and noodle lovers would enjoy their cooking station where one could mix and match the different toppings and sauces.

Seafood lovers would enjoy the freshly cooked shrimps, clams, scallops and fresh crabs.

Meat enthusiasts would love their prime rib and how they grill it based on your preference. More than that, they also have some sausages, lamb and other meat to cook.

One shouldn't miss their lechon or roasted suckling pig. Small piglets are used to cook this crunchy and decadent dish. The meat was tender and the skin crunchy.

A personal favorite would be their Indian Section. It's basically HALAL certified so you don't need to worry. The plates, utensils and even the dishes are created based on strict guidelines.
Food In The Bag is now in Facebook. Click Here to follow and like.

MAGURO NIGHTS at 7 CORNERS would run all throughout January 2017 during dinner time. It's a nice way to start the year. Something that a foodie would love and enjoy.

7 CORNERS of CROWNE PLAZA ORTIGAS Revisited.

I could still remember it like it was yesterday. One of the first hotel buffet restaurants that I visited was 7 Corners of CROWNE PLAZA in ORTIGAS. This all day dining restaurant gives off a bit of passion as you enter. Red lanterns and wooden ceilings here and there give you a relaxing vibe. As you enter, you are greeted by a helpful staff and accompanied to your table.

A line up of everything that you could wish for is at the buffet spread.
Dessert at the entrance to entice you to come in and a number of fresh salad to give you that healthy lift. There is also a create your own soup station, pasta, and even a make your own pizza.
The Japanese Sushi station had a lot to offer. From freshly sliced salmon to even unagi or eel and a couple of handmade rolls.
Fresh seafood are on display and could be cooked based on your preference. From crabs to mussels and huge shrimps.

Aside from having them cooked in luscious butter, one could also request for some salmon to grill along with them.
There was also an Indian selection that could give your taste buds a bit of a kick. The biryani was flavorful and the tandoori a bit spicy.
The carving station produced some crispy pork belly. Each chop would deliver a crispy sound enticing the guests to get some more.

If there was one dish to make this buffet worth it, it would be the prime rib. One huge slab of meat cut right in front of you.
You could eat it as is or request for it to be done based on your liking. One would suggest a medium rare doneness to get the perfect bite.
Dessert is filled with fruits, dips, cakes and home made gelato. Excellent way to top of the meal.
"Breakfast buffet is at 6am to 10pm at Php 1,325.89. Lunch buffet is at 11:30am to 2:30pm at Php 1,878.35 Except for Sundays which is Php 2,099.33. Dinner is pegged at Php 1,988.84 from Sundays to Thursday. For Friday and Saturday dinner, it would be at Php 2,099.33. The prices are net and could change with or without prior notice."

EDSA SHANGRI-LA'S HEAT BUFFET: #MadForWAGYU

Did that get your attention? It sure got mine. It was just this SATURDAY NIGHT and I was all too excited for EDSA SHANGRILA'S HEAT BUFFET: MAD FOR WAGYU. Everything made of WAGYU! The origins of wagyu came from JAPAN. From Matsusaka Ushi, Kobe Beef and Ohmi Beef cattle. Raised in the Kansai region, these are the best of the best. Other than these, The US has an American Styled Kobe Beef while there is also an Australian version. Enough of the history and let's get down to business.
It was a night to remember. SATURDAY night. As I took my seat, these dark reddish brown crunchies were served to whet the appetite. This dish right here is amazing.

THE WAGYU BEEF JERKY, this gives you an incredible desire to NOT stop yourself and indulge. Crispy and candied. Definitely a MUST GET! One plate is not enough.

If you are a newbie to buffets, I suggest you get tips here on how to attack HEAT'S BUFFET.   Better to go on an empty stomach as you would be overwhelmed on where to start and might get full to soon. For me, the Japanese section is always a great way to begin your foodie walk.

Aside from the usual rolls, you are greeted with WAGYU rolls. Just be careful not to over indulge as this is just the beginning.

Wagyu salads and starters are also placed near the Japanese Section.

Believe it or not, EDSA SHANGRI-LA made xiao long bao that has wagyu as the base. It gives off a rich taste as the soup and meat goes well together.

There's also a MAKE-YOUR-OWN TACO WAGYU STATION that could make you go Mexican.

It's like having cheese steak on shells. Perfect to go with cheese.

Even the Shawarma station is WAGYU.

An interesting starter though would be the WAGYU TARTARE. Mixed with capers, mustard, parsley, tobasco sauce and egg. Placed on top a toasted wheat bread. It was pretty good. The meat was fresh and didn't had that funky after taste.

Beside the WAGYU TARTARE is the WAGYU PANINI.

They have a station that slices the WAGYU MEAT and gives you options on what to put in the sandwich. From different cheeses, onions, tomatoes, and vegetables.

I was really into it because of the generous meat serving that I had 3 more. NO JOKE

By this time, you might be thinking: "IS THAT ALL?". Well not really. They have a couple of grilling station with different WAGYU cuts.

Even BURGER PATTIES.

Over at the CARVING station, you are given a couple of choices of pre-cooked meats.

The WAGYU TOMAHAWK. 25KG of meat and bones cooked to perfection.

and the ROAST BEEF

Of course, you could have your slices of meat cooked to your liking. I suggest you go for medium.
You might feel that it's a bit too rich or "nakaka-umay" but adding different sauces would allow you to have a plethora of flavors go into your salivating mouth to give you a different pace.
Personally, I prefer the HONEY TRUFFLE MUSTARD. Yes, amazing sauces.

Aside from the meat, you can also have a pick of seafood. Shells, slipper lobsters and clams. You can have them cooked to your liking like garlic butter. A preview of their FRIDAY BUFFET: MAD FOR LOBSTER. Click Here.
Since it's conceptualization, the chef wanted everything to speak WAGYU. Even the dessert. From WAGYU CHOCOLATE CREPES
TO CAKES! Yes, it's a cake and not steak.

You need not worry as they also have a lot of short cakes and other sweet things to treat your taste buds.

FOR Php 2,415.00 Nett per person, EDSA SHANGRI-LA'S MAD FOR WAGYU BUFFET is an amazing salivating treat. Served every SATURDAY DINNER, you could be assured of quality steaks and innovative WAGYU DISHES. Aside from all the WAGYU, they also have all of their usual dishes to go with the meaty affair. If eating seems a bit too hard for you, they also give out free 5 minute massages at the entrance c/o the specialists from THE CHI SPA. It was pure heaven. Cheers!
