THE ALLEY BY VIKINGS: BONIFACIO HIGH STREET'S GO TO BUFFET BGC

When someone asks me where to go for lunch, I usually say let's go to a buffet. The upside is that you get tons of choices and you won't need to wait for food. One of my go to places would be THE ALLEY in UP TOWN CENTER KATIPUNAN. Recently, they just opened their 4th branch of the same concept in BGC.  This newer place is hipper and more instagrammable.
Since this is owned by the VIKINGS GROUP, you could be sure of its quality and quantity. One thing that differs between the usual Vikings buffet is that THE ALLEY is patterned like a food hall. They have 14 different stations that you could choose from.
You just have to remember that this is a buffet. You go for the meanest and best bang for buck dishes.
If it was me you're talking to, I usually head on over to their Japanese section first. NAMED as YATAI, this stall offers sushi and sashimi. Other Japanese dishes are also found here.
It's tempura all you want as well. If they don't have a single one waiting for you, the staff is willing to bring newly cooked ones to your table. So don't forget to get your table number.
After starting with my go-to's, I would suggest that you visit the stations that offer the carved dishes. IN BUONO, you are greeted with the big guns. Aside from turkey, lamb, and beef, they also have deep fried pork aka liempo. Surprisingly, they offer chicharon bulaklak here as well.
Another must try would be their baked oysters. Topped with tons of gooey cheese, you won't go wrong with these babies. Just remember to eat them when you have something in your stomach already.
As you enter THE ALLEY in BGC, you have a choice between the left side and the right side. Don't get me wrong, both sides are perfect places to sit at. My only tip is to stay somewhere at the back since most of the main courses are there. One stall named as HAO CHI, offers Chinese Dishes. Aside from the deep friend pork, you could also go for the soy chicken. Really good stuff.
The choices here are extremely limitless. You can never go wrong with any.
I appreciate that they also serve street food. They have a fishball cart that sells deep friend goodies. Beside it, they offer bibingka and puto bungbong. You could also have some dirty ice cream, taho, and balot.
Another thing that makes me like THE ALLEY is that they have an extensive list of drinks to choose from. You can go for something alcoholic like their cocktails of the day, or fruits juices and even freshly brewed coffee.

THE ALLEY BY VIKINGS in BGC is their 4th branch with the same concept. It is located on the second floor of Bonifacio High Street Central.

NORD'S BREAD HUB in SM NORTH EDSA THE BLOCK

When one visits a bakery, usually it would be easy to overlook the other dishes that they may serve. It might be all about bread but this is not the case at the newest VIKING around. At NORD'S BREAD HUB in SM NORTH EDSA THE BLOCK, one of the reasons to visit would be their ala carte menu.By no means should you skip the bread, it's their breadwinner. All I'm saying is that their ala carte menu can take care of its own. Aside from all the savory and sweet carbo delights, the meals are pretty much delicious and competitive with other restaurants.
The NORDS Sampler has a combination of shrimp dynamite, almond chicken tenders, fries and potato wedges. These are partnered with different house dips to make them more interesting.
A definite must try would be the GRILLED MONTE CRISTO. Think of a cheesy ham and egg sandwich. Perfectly served with layers of French toast. The cheese was gooey and oozing out.
For something healthy, NORD'S BREAD HUB has a number of salads to try out. The ORIENTAL MANGO is a mixture of lettuce, red cabbage, mandarin oranges, mango, and other veggies. Thankfully, there was chicken and crispy wanton strips on top. It's not that it wasn't delicious, it's just that I'm not really into salads.
The SALMON has a miso teriyaki glaze giving it a sweet touch. Flaky and not overcooked, it's pretty good with a cup or two of rice.
Speaking of rice meals, the TRES MARIAS is a combination of adobo, tocino, and tapa. Partnered with the chorizo rice, vinegar would be the perfect sauce. ANOTHER CROWD favorite would be the Don Malutong. Here, Crispy Pork Belly are produced to create an amazing texture play in your mouth. It's like crunchy bacon perfect for anytime of the day.
A surprise unique dish would be the salted egg and smoked fish pasta. The egg wasn't over powering but it did give the oomph this dish needed. The pasta was al-dente and made it just right.
Since this is a bakery, patrons have a number of sweet pastries to try out for dessert as well.
Favorites would be the danish. Made with different flavors, you can't go wrong with the oreo. Better yet go for the choco custard is just something that is fun and straight forward.
Opened just a few weeks ago, NORD'S BREAD HUB is something that could break the monotony that hounds the bakeshops in the metro. Aside from serving sumptuous dishes, they also have lots of sockets for laptop and phone users. Plus, they have books which you could exchange with your old ones.

VIKINGS at SM NORTH EDSA: FREE MEAL Every Month

Did you know that VIKINGS will be giving a meal for free once a month for the whole 2016? .... From there, my mouth flew open and wondered if this was true.
On a calm day last January 2016, I visited VIKINGS in SM NORTH.

During that weekday lunch, the place was packing.
It was actually, my first of many visits to SM NORTH's Vikings Branch.
Of course I focused my attention on the carving station of Vikings because to fully get what you paid for, always go for the big guns first in a buffet.
Appetizers were a plenty among with the usual stations you would see in VIKINGS.
One dish that I learned though was that they have a special dish that was recently added. It was VIKING'S version of Taiwanese Adobo Beef. It's like making your own rice topping.
It was also nice for them to give me a birthday cake since it was my birthday the week before.
For the month of JANUARY, VIKINGS had a theme for their free dish. It was ANGUS STEAK. So, all the branches of VIKINGS including NIU gave away steak themed dishes to its customers for free.
You don't really need to worry because they give it in a take out box for you to enjoy on your own free time.
As early as 3pm, people were lining up to get a free dish.
One of the lucky diners that got a free dish.
So how can you get a free meal? Basically, you just need an INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT.

Here are the mechanics:
1) All Vikings Branches will giveaway a special dish* of the month for FREE on February 20, 2016 for the first 100 pax only.
2) Redemption time will be at 3:30 - 4:30. Official line will start at 3:00 PM.
3) To join the food fest, guest must regram/repost the official IG post from @vikingsluxurybuffet on their OWN Instagram account with the complete caption and hashtags ‪#‎VikingsFoodFest‬ ‪#‎EatLikeAViking‬. (Please repost on your Instagram account this particular post)
4) Guest must follow the official Instagram account of Vikings: @vikingsluxurybuffet
5) Present their repost/regram post to the official personnel in charge at his/her preferred store in order to be able to line up.
6) Eligibility to redeem the special dish will be checked upon lining up.
7) Strictly no Instagram post, no redemption.
8) No multiple redemption per store.
For tomorrow, they would be giving out these dishes for free!
Isn't that amazing?

FOUR SEASONS HOTPOT and BUFFET in CUBAO: Experience like no other.

Two things that really made the food scene better are buffet restos and hotpots. They let you pick from a lot of choices on what to eat and you only pay a fraction of the price. FOUR SEASONS BUFFET and HOTPOT in CUBAO just fits the bill as it combines the two. Best of both worlds.

I found myself driving around the ARANETA area looking for this new place to try out. Located in MANHATTAN PARKVIEW on General Roxas Avenue in CUBAO, FOUR SEASONS HOTPOT and BUFFET is definitely a must visit so I went for it. Pay parking is spacious and is located at the basement of the same building so no worries for drivers like me.
Once you enter  FOUR SEASONS, you are greeted by a helpful staff and you feel as if you were transported to a different time and place.

When you are led into the main dining hall, you can't help but get awed at how huge place is. Well lighted, this is a perfect venue for a little foodie reunion or a leisure business lunch.
Each table in the main food hall has their own hotpot cooker with a divider so that you could have two types of soup in it.
In case you are a big group, you will be happy to note that they have function rooms that you could reserve. This time around, there is a lazy susan and each diner have their own cooker.
First things first, you are asked as to what kind of soup you would like as a base.
They have this huge selection of shabu shabu broth. I enjoyed the pork soup with a spoonful of sate.
You may also go for a sukiyaki broth if you're into sweet things.  Not to worry though, you get to make your own sauces from a huge selection of spices and what not so you could tweak the flavors to your liking.

After choosing, you go through a huge selection of things to cook.
From different balls and the like. To different types of meat
and seafood like crabs, shells, slices of fish, and shrimps.
Yes, there are also veggies for those healthy eaters out there.
and they give you a choice selection of flavored noodles. Some are spicy and others are just right.
Another thing that made FOUR SEASONS HOTPOT and BUFFET a must try is that they have a huge selection of cooked and prepared food items.
Aside from salad and other small bites, you could start out first with some sashimi and sushi.
You could also have different meats grilled from bbqs to fresh fish.
My choice would have to be baked oysters. Perfect and gooey. Just remember to eat them once you get something into your tummy.
and make your own pasta for the noodle lovers out there.
They also have a carving station that serves LEG of LAMB, CHUCK EYE ROLL, ROASTED TURKEY
and the (in)famous BINUSOG NA LECHON or Stuffed Roasted Pig. Flavored rice is stuffed inside a Roasted Pork Belly. No need for the sauce.

In all honesty, I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of food thrown at me. I think you would need around 3 hours to perfectly enjoy the buffet. Get there around opening and take your time.
As usual, go for whatever tickles your fancy from the get go. Usually, aim for the expensive dishes like steaks and lamb.
Don't go overboard with rice and other carbs as it would fill you up quickly.
and remember, to always go for dessert.
Aside from Filipino Delicacies like bibingka and taho, you could go for pastries, small cakes, crepe, ice creams and a choco fountain.
Most important of all, you also get to choice from a plethora of drinks. From different softdrinks to juices and amazing liquor like imported beer and sake. Don't regret anything and end the meal with tea or coffee.

The quality and the food selection is tempting all the foodies around the metro to come on over to FOUR SEASONS HOTPOT and BUFFET MANHATTAN PARKVIEW in Araneta Center. For the price of 688+ for a weekday lunch to 888++ Php for a holiday or a weekend visit, you definitely get more than what you paid for. From the carving station to the grilling and right down to cooking the food for yourself, you can definitely make your tummy happy. Just remember, get a reservation, go for the pricey stuff first and avoid carbs to the last minute. Properly plan on how to attack the buffet and don't forget to check if they have promos and what not. Because until October 27, they are letting us experience discount. Enjoy.
