FIREPLACE in NEW WORLD MANILA BAY: When it Comes to Steak

A dinner is never complete without something to be thankful for. At THE FIREPLACE in NEW WORLD MANILA BAY HOTEL, they are serious in servings its guests the best possible dishes that they can and for that diners are blessed and appreciative.
Just a week or so ago, FIREPLACE launched different dishes that serves AUSTRALIAN GRASS FED BEEF. Known for being nutritious, safe, and flavorful, AUSTRALIAN GRASS FED BEEF has a lot to offer. A good source of Omega-3 fatty acids, the meat has less saturated fat compared to others.
This time around, it was partnered and served with different dishes on the menu. One could start off with some Parmesan Flan. Almost custard like, this cheesy appetizer definitely whets the appetite.
Aside from that, they also offer some greens filled with luxurious seafood and even foie gras. This salad has got to be both healthy and decadent at the same time.
When ordering, never forget about their version of the mashed potato. The texture is very smooth and has a slight buttery and creamy taste. Having to crush the potatoes by hand spelled a great difference.
With the star of the show in mind. GRASSFED CARPACCIO was brought out. Thinly sliced high grade beef was transformed into something ingenious. Simple yet delicious.
Interesting enough, GRASSFED SINUGLAW was a recreation of a classic. Seared beef was used in partnership with tuna loin. A dab of calamansi and other spices created a perfect precursor to the main event.
Tremendously huge cuts of steak were up next. Sous Vide, these babies showed a lean yet packed image of what a steak should be.
One could choose between a tenderloin or a ribeye.
Cooked ever so gently, these steaks seems to be done medium to medium rare. Bursting with juices, each bite would take you to heaven. The meat from Australia seems to do the trick. The flavors were intense and delightful.
Available until August 20 in the FIREPLACE, the AUSTRALIAN GRASS FED BEEF is a great choice.

NEW WORLD MANILA BAY HOTEL: UNLIMITED BURGERS and RIBS in The FIREPLACE

When NEW WORLD MANILA BAY HOTEL comes into mind, there's this quiet and very discreet restaurant that gives you one heck of a time. Dimly lit and perfect for any intimate occasion, you won't go wrong with THE FIREPLACE. The FIREPLACE maybe known as a romantic destination  but on the flip side, it is very homey and welcomes guests, families, and travelers alike.
As one enters, you are greeted by a huge oven with a fireplace look. To complete the authenticity, actual wood on the side. They use it to cook and smoke the different dishes that they serve.
The FIREPLACE is also known as a carnivore's playground. And yet, they also offer starters that could delight any type of appetite.
For something light, one could go for the CEASAR SALAD. With crisp pancetta on the side, you don't need to be a vegetarian to enjoy this one. Seafood lovers have the option to order some baked oysters and even smoked salmon. The oysters are filled with gooey cheese and herbs while the salmon has a deeper flavor.
Something different, the FIREPLACE introduced a couple of promotions to spice up their patrons cravings. For MONDAY BLUES, one could go for unlimited burgers and beer. Pegged at Php 1,700 Php, everyone is welcome to try out limitless serving of beer and burgers. One could choose from a SAN MIGUEL PALE PILSEN or a SAN MIGUEL LIGHT. Interestingly enough, the KALINGA KOLSCH would be the top pick. A craft beer that is locally made, this one is both light and refreshing.
The burger, on the other hand, is a different matter altogether. Covered with a couple of quail eggs, a thick and juicy patty is served alongside some medium cut fries. One bite and you realize the serious quality of the meat used to create this monster.
On Sundays, a different deal is up for grab. UNLIMITED WINE and RIBS are served for dinner time. Wine choices would depend on the availability that night. The ribs though are a specialty. Not offered on the regular menu, this slab of meat is moist and tender. Each bite gives a savory and sweet taste. Partnered with some coleslaw, you get to understand the contrasting play.
Needless to say, one really goes to THE FIREPLACE because of the STEAK. The HANGING TENDER gives off a tasty and juicy piece of meat. BUT, it is the WAGYU RIBEYE that would get anyone's attention. Tender and delicately grilled. This bad boy is a must when visiting the Fireplace.
Dessert is also an ideal way to cap off any dinner.  At the FIREPLACE, you won't go wrong with any on the menu.
The MOLTEN CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE is a feast for the senses. A mouthful doesn't overpower you. It makes you swoon with delight. Other than that, the MATCHA CHEESECAKE is also a winner. One could taste the matcha bitterness alongside the hint of the dairy making it a balanced ending.

NEW WORLD MANILA BAY: THE FIREPLACE'S NEW MENU

When someone mentions the restaurant FIREPLACE , usually it would be synonymous to an intimate gathering like a birthday or an anniversary. Thankfully, the FIREPLACE in NEW WORLD MANILA BAY is now more welcoming as they roll out a menu to cater to every occasion one could think of. It could be someone's important day or just a lovely dinner for two. For sure, this is a welcomed transformation.
As you enter the restaurant you are guided to your seat. I suggest you go for a couch or a booth as it is very cozy and perfect for any night. Walking towards your table, you can't help but admire the brass lodge feel of the place and the huge fire oven right at the center. The New Executive Chef, James Williams, has a lot in store for the discerning patrons of this restaurant. This promise of delicious surprise is one that he definitely delivers.
To whet the appetite, PORCINI MUSHROOM BRIOCHE was served along with bacon fat. Don't ask and wonder why. Just try and you would understand. That is what the brioche did for me. One dip and one bite equates to something soft and delicious. Never mind the calories, just do it.
To get the night rolling, a glass or two of any cocktail would be perfect. Their bar is equipped to offer you any drinks you may want as they have an impressive repertoire. Furthermore, the FIREPLACE is now carrying craft beer that local brewers created. More flavors, perfect for food pairing.
To prepare our tummies, two contrasting soups were served first. The lobster bisque is a little different as it was infused with cognac and was served with salt cod brandade beignet. Unfortunately, it was a bit too salty for me that two spoonful were enough. On the other hand, I was impressed with the Cream of Corn Soup. Served with uni, crispy chicken skin and basil oil, one try and the sweetness of the corn came out. There was even a play on texture because of the crunchiness and the buttery feel of the chicken skin and the uni. I liked it.
Being a cheese lover, I was happy when they served TOMATO and BURRATA. Something similar to a caprese salad, fresh tomatoes were used alongside the burrata. Then, the balsamic sorbet was there for that zing taste. Simple yet tasty.
A very presentable dish would be THE FIREPLACE'S SIGNATURE BEEF TARTARE. Served with some flare, the beef tartare has smoked garlic aioli and confit egg yolk. I enjoyed the play on flavors from the beef and the garlic.
Just a tease, Confit belly pork along with seared scallops were placed on a sampling plate. The moist scallops were mouthwatering but the belly pork was incredible. Tender meat and crunchy skin on top.
For chicken lovers, the SPRING CHICKEN would be your bet. Accompanied by creamed corn, I thought it was similar to duck confit. The moist meat was lovely but the skin stands out. It had the right crunchiness and texture that one would definitely love.
Seafood enthusiast would enjoy the SMOKED SALMON. The fish melts in your mouth. The smokiness was definitely there. The Squid ink mayonnaise was a nice touch on the side.
The FIREPLACE'S SIGNATURE BURGER is a must try. Stuffed with foie gras, onion jam, and truffle mayonnaise, one bite and you are hooked. Topped with quail egg, the burger is cooked perfectly. The delicious and butter center transcends understanding. Bottom line is, you have to try this for you to believe me. Don't get me started on those hand cut parmesan fries. They were wiped out in an instant.
Transitioning to the main course, the IFUGAO RICE was served. Almost risotto like, this puffed black rice is served with octopus and calamari on top. It is a little creamy and would go well with any mains.
Speaking of mains, I liked how you could instantly make your steak SURFABLE. Meaning to say, you could order seafood on the side. More than grilled prawns, scallops and fried calamari, go for the BABY LOBSTERS. Grilled, these soft babies are a nice treat.
The BEEF CHEEK is a welcomed change in pace. Marinated in Asian Spices served with pumpkin puree, bok choi and chili jam. The meat was tender and having a little spicy twist would be perfect for Asian food lovers.
For someone that can't decide, you would be happy to know that The FIREPLACE offers a tasting plate of three different steaks. In this particular dish, I was able to try the hanging tender, ribeye and the flatiron steak. My personal choice would be the ribeye. I liked the mouth feel and the tenderness of the meat.
The night's piece de resistance would be the TOMAHAWK. This amazingly long steak has a marble score of 5. Topped with cafe de Paris butter and foie gras, you can't help but wonder if you are going to kick the bucket right there and then because of the overload of fatty goodness. For good measure, the chef also included bone marrow, just in case you're not satisfied with the delicious yet deadly topping. This is a straight foward attempt at making your taste buds jump for joy. The meat is amazingly soft and the flavors were well absorbed. It can't get anymore better than this piece of serious meat!
Desserts at the Fireplace are also well thought off. The Passion fruit brulee is accompanied by a chocolate ganache. For something lighter, the Vanilla Panna cotta could do the trick.
My top pick though would be the LEMON CANDY with CALAMANSI, YUZU and Thyme Sponge cake. At first look, you would wonder why half a lemon is presented to you. Upon closer inspection it is actually a candy shell that has a creamy inner part. You crack this candy open, scoop a bit of that liquid and place it on your slice of sponge cake. Divine.
The FIREPLACE in NEW WORLD MANILA BAY seems to acknowledge that they need to go with the times. The inclusion of different dishes to their new menu opens up their market. More than just a steakhouse, Fireplace is now steering towards greater heights.

LI LI: Chinese New Year in New World Manila Bay Hotel

I was running late. I forgot to tell my driver not to pass by Quiapo as it was a Friday. I only woke up when we were in the mix already. I was actually pretty excited as I remember fondly of my Market Cafe experience in what used to be the Hyatt Hotel. That was back in 2013. It was an unforgettable experience. Market Cafe is pretty awesome and you could check it out here. After a rebranding, it turned into the NEW WORLD MANILA BAY HOTEL.

For this particular visit, I was treated to LI LI. This is the in house Chinese Restaurant of NEW WORLD MANILA BAY HOTEL. Once I stepped out of the elevator, I can't help but adore the different appointed booths and private function rooms for the diners.
Since Chinese New Year is coming up, LI LI wanted to let us try their Chinese New Year Menu. Different dishes that push prosperity and luck for everyone.
We first started out with the JAPANESE CONPOY SOUP with Abalone Shell and Seafood and bamboo pith. Just saying the name of the soup is a mouthful. And yet, I enjoyed how it warms up your tummy and makes your prepared for the feast ahead.
One of my favorite Chinese dishes is the SUCKLING PIG with JELLY FISH.
Accompanied by "pancakes", the skin was crispy and the meat was tender. With just a dab of hoisin sauce, and you are good to go.
The next dish is somewhat unusual for me. This is the BRAISED DRIED OYSTER with SEA MOSS.
The oysters were huge and had a savory flavor. The sea moss actually represents luck and prosperity. It absorbs the flavors in which it is cooked. Kinda like angel hair pasta if you ask me.
Another delectable dish would be the WOK-BAKED cod fillet glazed with honey pepper sauce. Accompanied by crunchy strips, the cod was masterfully cooked in a sweet peppery sauce that highlighted its flavor.
The Bouillon Scallop with shrimp mousse is not to be missed. The scallop flavor is evident in the ball like dish alongside with the mouse.
As with any Chinese Feast, rice is served towards the end of the meal. This is FRIED GLUTINOUS RICE with AIR-DRIED MEAT.
The rice is awesome. A little sticky and definitely flavorful. You will just hear your tummy be growling as this is a little heavy.
For dessert, we had some TIKOY and BUCHI. These are the PAN-Fried Glutinous rice cake with sesame balls. Delicious.
If that wasn't enough we had the famous CHILLED MANGO PUDDING.
Pudding on the bottom, fresh mango on top. With syrup and milk. Plus a crunchy delight. YUMMY!
If you are in the Malate area, LI LI at the NEW WORLD MANILA BAY HOTEL is something that will not let you down. For the Chinese New Year, you won't go wrong with any of these dishes. Simple and straight forward.
