LIA'S CAKES IN SEASON: Perfect Sweet Spot in Pasig

It's been hard lately for my family and I when it comes to desserts. You see, we are a family of diabetics. As such, we always watch our sugar levels. We can't go for that decadent and extremely delicious sweet ending without going over our limit. Thankfully, LIA'S CAKE IN SEASON was thoughtful enough to think about us.
LIA'S CAKES IN SEASON has been providing delicious dessert since 2004. After serving up north, they decided to move centrally to Kapitolyo in Pasig. Here, they cater to everyone in the neighborhood.
Two must orders from LIA'S CAKES would be the CHOCOLATE DECADENCE and the UBE CHEESECAKE. The chocolate is just bursting with that sweet feeling. The ube is creamy and has that natural taste everyone looks for.
As I mentioned, LIA'S CAKE has done a masterful job. Just in time for mother's day, they have this SUGAR-FREE AVOCADO CAKE. With just the right amount of sweetness, this cake became an instant hit in our family. My mom loved it so much, she had 1/3 in just one sitting. Aside from this, they also have sugar-free ube cheesecake which I would definitely try next time.
LIA'S CAKES IN SEASON is that perfect hole in the wall stop that can deliver your dessert needs. Aside from the usuals, their sugar free choices are perfect for everyone. Known for their avocado cakes, you won't go wrong serving this in your next party or even for the coming MOTHER'S DAY. Cheers.

TOAST ASIAN KITCHEN: A Mix of Everything Good

When one hears the word toast, one can't help but think about whether it's in a celebratory nature or the breakfast kind. At TOAST ASIAN KITCHEN, its the former. Here, they honor different Asian cuisines with the right pairing of drinks.
Located in Ayala Malls the 30th, TOAST ASIAN KITCHEN and TASTING ROOM could be the ideal place to hangout and enjoy. To start one might find the GYOZIG or their version of the sisig gyoza and the Slow Cooked Pork Buns as excellent choices.
Not just that but TOAST also offers yakitori. It's served with either a soy flavor or a lightly sweeter version in the form of teriyaki. Favorite choices would be the shrimps and the chicken wings. On the side, there's garlic and sweet and spicy dipping sauces.
The meal hasn't really begun. Let's just say that all those were just there to entice the palette. A Chicken and Pomelo Salad was thrown in the fray signaling that more things are to come. This is a mixture of grilled chicken and fresh pomelo tossed in salad greens drizzled with coconut vinaigrette dressing.
To warm the stomach, the BLAKSA or Toast's version on the classic Singaporean Laksa was placed on the table. There's a bit of twist here as squid ink was poured on top to enchance the coconut broth. End result would be something richer but not too spicy.
Something to indulge on still would be the TOM YUM MEATBALLS. Here, pork meatballs are flavored with tom yum spices and smothered with its sauce and melted cheddar cheese. It's a bit spicy but perfect to go with any cold drink.
Then they started to bring in all the big guns. A must get would be the WAGYU BEEF with CHINESE BROCCOLI. The stir fried wagyu cubes works extremely well with the teriyaki sauce. To no suprise, this would signal the start of a need of an extra cup of rice.
Speaking of carbs, the Longganisa Pasta might be a better way of spending those points. Instead having just plain rice, this pasta could add more flavor to your meal.
I don't usually do this but the next few dishes would be excellent mains to get. They are perfect to share (or not) to your friends and family. These are definitely crowd pleasers.
Although considered as a small plate dish, the THAI BASIL CHICKEN POPPERS are just delightful. Bite sized chicken pieces that were deep fried. Nuoc mam sauce is used and fresh basil was added to get a sweet and savory finish.
One might say that it would be an overboard to get the CRISPY PORK KNUCKLES and the TWICE COOKED PORK with SALTED EGG FRIED RICE together. On the contrary, they are perfect with one another. The Knuckles are sous vide and boneless. Making it very easy to eat. The Twice Cooked Pork was seriously good. The Pork belly was braised and seared with honey and garlic. Adding the salted egg fried rice just made it more deadly yet spot on.
A definite classic the HAINANESE CHICKEN is smooth and tender. The sous vide chicken is not bland nor is it lacking. There's a savory part that will never go wrong with the rice. Speaking of the rice, it must not be shared.
TOAST ASIAN KITCHEN and TASTING ROOM is a place to enjoy an afternoon or night away. Cocktails and drinks were tailored made to partner with the dishes. Aside from that, they have an excellent list of bottled beverages that would ensure a night of destressing and relaxation.

SIAM THAI: A Thai Hotpot Sports Bar in Kapitolyo

One wouldn't expect to find a hotpot place in the middle of Kapitolyo more so if it's Thai themed. SIAM THAI is the exception. It is a Sports Bar, Hot Pot, BBQ place rolled into one.
Located in the PIONEER CENTER SUPERMART, SIAM THAI has a couple of floors just for their patrons. Granted that the first floor can only accommodate a table or two, the second is where all the action happens. Once you get there, you are greeted by the friendly staff and is escorted to your table. You might want to be seated at the alfresco section since it will remind you of a garden setup. It is filled with HDTV playing different sports channels. Hence, it is perfectly fine to get an ice cold bucket of beer to go with your meal. The fact that they have an impressive line up of alcohol makes the distinction that it is indeed a sports bar. If one can't get over the humidity, they also have an air conditioned room to set you up into full foodie mode.
The restaurant prides itself in offering THAI BBQ HOTPOT. A bronze shabu shabu pot with bbq space is brought to your table as you order a set or get an unlimited version. Priced at only 599Php, the "buffet" version is a wonderful way to get the most out of the meal as you can refill and ask for fresh ingredients to cook.
First timers need not worry as the staff will help you create wonderful dishes to the best of their ability.

Admittedly, you might wonder why the soup doesn't taste as much as you would like. Apparently, there is a trick to this. Since you will be bbqing the meat, all the juices and extra flavor would drip down to the soup. Wait a little and you will be able to taste different flavors based on what you cooked.
Aside from that, diners are given a choice of sauces to mix and match. They could go for the sweet, sweet and spicy, and the spiciest one. The staff would suggest you try the mild sauce first so that you get to appreciate the flavors and not burn your tongue.

Browsing through the menu, one would be able to see a lot of ala carte dishes that are perfect for beer matches and can even be a meal unto itself. Since this is a Thai restaurant, a couple of their best sellers would be the PAD THAI and the POMELO SALAD. The Pad Thai is a crowd favorite. The nuts add a different texture to the noodle. It has a sweet taste that they might want to tone down though. The POMELO SALAD hands down is amazing. The ripeness of the the fruit coupled with the coconut milk makes it a joy to eat. The play on the flavor and texture is perfect.
Another dish that came highly recommended was the PANDAN CHICKEN. The fillet was wrapped in pandan leaves. They are then deep fried to create a moist and tender dish.
Dining with a few friends could give you a bit of advantage in terms of being able to try a lot. You might want to get a platter for the hotpot and bbq. Then, partner it with a couple of ala carte dishes.
SIAM THAI in KAPITOLYO is a perfect place to visit during sports event as you get to drink, eat and enjoy an amazing game.

Revisiting the BURGER JOINT in PASIG

There comes a point in time that diners would always go back to their favorite restaurants. It can't be always something new. At BURGER JOINT, they try to create different dishes to lure guests back. Mixing old with new, it all works out.
BURGER JOINT is located in SM PASIG along C-5 road. Just across Tiendesitas, the restaurant is just a small hole in the wall perfect for hungry shoppers.

One could start off with some delicious milkshakes that the kitchen has prepared. It could be a brownie filled chocolate version or even a red velvet. Thankfully, it isn't overly sweet.

For starters, one could go for their LOADED NACHOS. This snack is topped with every topping you would want. To give it a more refreshing taste, they even have watermelon cubes on top.

Another must get dish would be their CLASSIC BUFFALO WINGS. The wings are covered with delicious sauce. The chicken has properly absorbed the flavor. Eating this with bare hands would be awesome. Better, they give you plastic gloves to eat them without the mess.
Burgers are the bread and butter of BURGER JOINT. Being able to make everything in house makes the flavors pop out more. Cheese lovers would enjoy the JUICY LUCY. Cheese is stuffed into the burger patty to ensure there's that salty flavor in each bite. For guests with huge appetites, they could go with the WTF. A behemoth of a burger. Bacon, cheese and everything you would need for that protein loading bite.
For something a bit smoky, the SOUTHWEST BBQ would be your bet. Once this burger is placed on your table, you can't help but feel your mouth go wet with anticipation. It's like having a bbq fiesta in your mouth. Delicious.
BURGER JOINT in SM PASIG serves delicious burgers at affordable prices. Being able to dish out no frills dishes makes visitors come back for more.

MAIN STREET is now open in KAPITOLYO, PASIG

Comfort food is basically defined as something that would make the diners enjoy and have fun. THE GUYS behind MAIN STREET RESTAURANT made sure that the guests would be delighted with all the dishes they offer.
Located in KAPITOLYO, PASIG,  MAIN STREET is one of the newest restaurant in the block. Aside from their first venture in Taguig City, this is their second bigger and better branch.

An old house was transformed into a relaxed and chill dining spot to cater to families and friends in the area. One could start with their impressive list of drinks.
They could partner them with bar chows like the PULLED PORK NACHOS. A hefty serving of nachos with a lot of meat is partnered with cheese, jalapenos and salsa.
Since the owners stayed a long time in Canada, they made sure to have authentic POUTINE on their menu. Basically, it has fries, cheese, gravy and a lot of bacon. This is the ultimate sexy dish.

In contrast, health buffs would enjoy the GRILLED CHICKEN SALAD. The peanut-lime-honey vinaigrette works well with the greens and the chicken. It gave it a hint of sweetness.

Seafood lovers would crave for the MOULES CONGOLAISE. Chilean mussels are cooked to make a smokey and tomatoey taste. Mixed with lemongrass and coconut cream, it is perfect to eat with the garlic bread.

For the first time, MAIN STREET chose to serve pasta. Here, they went for the traditional SPAGHETTI and MEATBALLS and also the CLASSIC CARBONARA. IF there was one pasta dish to order, it would be the carbonara. The pasta is cooked perfectly. The eggs and cheese sauce has a bit of bacon and everything works.

A welcomed surprise would be the BLACKENED CHICKEN. Served with creole butter, this cajun spiced chicken is delicious.

Partnering it with the HOISIN BABY BACK RIBS would make your taste buds jump erupt. This 8 hour braised baby back rib is tender and perfect with the hoisin sauce.
A crowd favorite, the RIBEYE STEAK is delightful. Australian ribeye steak is cooked perfectly and is simple as it gets.
MAIN STREET has a decent dessert selection to choose from. You could go for the brownie and the creme brulee.
MAIN STREET is a welcome addition to the long list of restaurants in KAPITOLYO. Having a decent parking space in front and a lot of excellent offerings, this restaurant is a must visit.
