SALVATORE CUOMO: BEST AFFORDABLE PASTA PIZZA BUFFET IN BGC

When in Bonifacio Global City, I would always find myself looking for something worth my while. Something not overly expensive yet it would give me bang for my buck. Thankfully SALVATORE CUOMO answered my calls.
No doubt, this has got to be the most value for money buffet you could find in BGC right now. Salvatore Cuomo is now celebrating their anniversary with a buffet that would definitely entice you to come back for more.
Diners are left impressed with this lunch anniversary buffet. From Mondays to Sundays, SALVATORE CUOMO has the PIZZA and LUNCH BUFFET ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL. For only 600Php for weekdays and 900Php for weekends, guests are entitled to a main course, unlimited pizza, soup, salad, appetizers and drinks.
Starting off with some healthy options, one could go for a make your own salad. Here, you could mix and match different fresh veggies to create your masterpiece.
While there are a number of appetizers like pumkins and frittata, the end of the line would show different pizzas on display. While they rotate these bad boys to other flavors after every so often, you can't help but get a couple more slices of the cheese flavored covered with honey.
You could see how freshly made each one is. With excellent ingredients selected for each dish, you are assured of the quality and the taste that comes with each bite.
For the main course, patrons are given the option to choose between a few dishes.
Pasta choices are abundant and would work well if you're part of the group. You could mix and match and share it with one another.
One could go for this clams and zucchini spaghetti as well. Filled with flavors of the sea, it's light and goes well with the different dishes on the buffet spread.
You could also go for some Pan Fried Salmon and Seafood Skewers. Take note though that seafood and meat options adds an additional 300 Php to the bill.
Meat lovers need not worry as SALVATORE CUOMO got you covered. This Porchetta is deadly. Partnered with the right type of carbs, you'll definitely have a blast.
While drinks are also part of the buffet, one has got to go for the SANGRIA'S. These babies pack a punch and are not like those watered down versions you get at other restaurants. Thankfully, the restaurant has a 50% off on them every Fridays and Saturdays.

CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN: PIZZA WARS 2016

On a pleasant afternoon, the FINALS of CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN'S PIZZA WARS was held in the EDSA SHANGRI-LA MALL Branch. Here, certain culinary personalities were in attendance to judge the 3 finalist in terms of appearance, flavor and creativity.
Judging the competition were the big bosses from CPK and two internationally renowned Filipino Chefs. Chef Sau del Rosario and Chef Sandy Daza.

As with any competition, the participating chefs showed their skills and described the process of making the different pizzas. One common denominator for this year finalists is that they are all seafood themed pizza.
While waiting, a couple of dishes were served to keep our tummies happy. The TUSCAN HUMMUS DIP was pretty good. The flavor wasn't overwhelming and the bread went well with it. For something healthy, they also served the THAI CRUNCH SALAD. I liked the texture and the sweet and savory taste of the salad. The crunchy noodles went well with the vegetables.
As with any competition, there could only be one winner. The judges explained that they had a hard time deciding which among the 3 finalist would win.
In third place, the COD with MANGO and CUCUMBER SALSA of Chef Noel Araneta. The Cod was deep fried and coated with perfectly. The salsa gave it a sweet flavor in which the Filipino palette is in tuned. A little more fine tuning and this would be the perfect pizza.
In second place, the DYNAMITE SHRIMP from Chef Jerric Venezuela. Deep fried shrimp poppers were placed on top the chewy pizza. This one had a bit of kick in it. A little hot but a choice pizza for spicy food lovers.

The winner for this year is the ANCHOVIES and GOAT CHEESE PIZZA.  The Creation of Chef Rodel Pico of CPK BGC made the cut. The saltiness of the anchovies worked well with the pepper and the apple slices. There was a contrast between sweet and salty. The complexity of the flavors worked and a new pizza is thus crowned.

Actually, all the 3 pizzas are winners. They would be rolled out in all of the branches of CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN in MANILA and would be part of the menu in the coming weeks. I can't wait to get another bite of that anchovy pizza as I really appreciate the different flavors it gave out.

CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN: More than Pasta and Pizza: It's memories.

I wouldn't have missed it for the world. That is how I thought about trying out CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN's Newest MENU. Yes, I love CPK and as such, I have been a fan of them from the start. This time around, they are back in SHANGRI-LA MALL better than before.

Pizza and Pasta and Salad. These are the things that brings my family and I to CPK. My family and I have been fans of CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN ever since it first opened its doors in SHANGRI-LA MALL years ago. We would always go up the ramp and seat at our favorite booth by the window.
Years into the future and now the present, CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN in Shangri-la mall has opened its doors in the new EAST WING MALL. One step in and everything reminds me of the first time I tried them. From the hospitality of the staff to the pizza oven, it was a turn back in time.
With their new look, CPK has introduced a new menu. They brought out dishes that would spell delicious and yet be healthy. Well, sort off.
Combo Shakes are their combination drinks of fruit shakes. I tried out their APPLE-GRAPE (195Php) and it was refreshing. The apple blended well with the grape taste.
One thing came to mind when they said that would be offering salad. Their version of the CEASAR SALAD. Oh how I miss that. Since new things in the menu were there to try out, the MEXICALI (275Php) was first placed on the table. Roasted Corn and black bean.
It was actually a great way of going for the taco feel salad. A lot of avocados and salsa coming your way.
More to my liking is the FRUIT and NUTS (275Php). Mixed fruits, avocado, walnuts and almonds in a orange herb vinaigrette. The mix of the fruits made it a bit sweet which definitely made me a happy fruit eater.
For pasta, CPK started going a little healthy and added a couple to their repertoire.
The PUTTANESCA (295php). Tomato sauce, black olives, roasted garlic, capers, and cherry tomatoes. It was a little spicy but not to the point that it would hurt your mouth. Since I'm into puttanesca, I enjoyed their version.
Another pasta dish that actually surprised me was the VEGETABLE PRIMAVERA (275/495Php). Zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, yellow bell pepper, and cherry tomatoes in sun-dried tomato oil. Needless to say, i moved the veggies to the side and tried the pasta. It was surprisingly good. I guess the sun-dried tomato oil alongside the juices from the different veggies gave it a neutral and tomatoey taste. Yummy and cooked perfectly.
As the name suggest, CPK specializes in pizza. Usually, these pizzas are thin crust but they pack a lot of flavor.
For bacon lovers, the CARAMELIZED APPLE, BACON and GORGONZOLA (225/375Php) would be the top pick. The apple slices worked well with the bacon and the cheese. It gave it a sweet and savory touch. Who doesn't love bacon and cheese?
A crowd favorite, was the BAJA PIZZA (545Php). Mozzarella, red onions, tomatoes, avocado and jalapenos with either chicken or shrimp.Although a little Mexican in flavor profile, the use of the baja sauce with the mayo-chipotle dressing gave it a nice zing.
Definitely my other pick, The STEAK MUSHROOM and TRUFFLE PIZZA.
That says it all. You could smell the truffle oil a few booths away. The steak meat was tender and perfectly cooked. Delish!
Another pizza that was just created right there and then was the WORKS.
Basically sort of like a pepperoni pizza with the everything.
This will be one of the first CPK pizza that isn't thin crusted. It has a little bit of bite. They would have this come December.
I'm not really a fan of dessert so I just took a small bite of the SALTED CARAMEL CAKE with CARAMEL SAUCE (245Pp). It's all right. Maybe, they could have made it more moist.
One fork full of the QUESO DE BOLA CHEESECAKE (350Php) made me oooh with delight. It has the right amount of moisture with the perfect creamy texture. Not too much, just right. This I like.

CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN comes full circle with this new healthy but delicious offerings. From the salads to the pizzas to the pasta and yes even the dessert, you could be assured of the quality and the taste with each bite. I'm sorry if I sound so head-over-heels with CPK. You see great memories were made with CPK. From family get togethers, to a blind date and even to a lonely snack. Yes, CPK has a place in my heart and in my tummy as well. I miss their mac and cheese.

Olive Tree Kitchen and Bar: Chilling is Their Game

I know of another epic way of ending my birthday week, it was to try and go to as many restaurants as you can in a day. LOL!
Exactly what I did!
So, my workmates and I were able to go to 3 places in Tagaytay and all this before lunch. From Breakfast at Antonio's to Bag of Beans to Original Buko Pie (click).
So come lunch time (still full from breakfast), I had the opportunity to try this resto bar.
Hi OTKB!!
