Ways to Earn Money Chasing Your Foodie Dreams While Traveling the World

We've all heard the word "foodie" before... But Have you ever wondered what exactly gives someone the right to call themselves a "foodie"? The term is used so loosely that it's hard to tell if someone is really a true foodie or not.

By definition, a foodie is someone with a deep interest in food, in both cooking and eating. But there has to be more to it than that, right? Or else why would certain people get upset at other people calling themselves foodies? That basic definition of the term practically describes everyone who enjoys food for sustenance and taste.
Our taste buds are designed to automatically ignite an interest in food, especially when it tastes goo, so that definition alone, isn't enough to explain what a true foodie is. In fact, true foodies will argue you down over what a foodie truly is! So before you go and label yourself as a foodie around other foodies, honestcooking.com recommends you,

BE able to recommend a restaurant while providing several menu options
BE knowledgeable on various cooking styles
BE able to pick out flavors and ingredients in various dishes

Those are just a few recommendations that will save you a scolding and embarrassment from real foodies. To settle the score on what a foodie really is, it's safe to say that a foodie is someone who is extremely passionate about food and all its facets. It's also safe to say that a foodie will travel the world just to pursue their food passion.

TRAVELING THE WORLD FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD

It's no secret that travel and tourism were designed with the foodie in mind. Although the term is still fairly new, the love of food isn't. There are food festivals, cooking TV shows, and food tours all over the world that people enjoy but only a true foodie lives, eats, and breathes food. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that foodies travel the world just to satisfy their foodie desires.
But traveling the world just to satisy your foodie desires isn't a realistic way of life... You still have a lofe outside of food, right? You at least have to work! Well, of course, but the thing about some foodies is that they love food so much that they've made being a foodie a complete lifestyle! And you can too if you're as passionate about food as you think you are!
The great news is that you can take your passion for food, travel all over the world, and make money while fulfilling your passion!

If you consider yourself a foodie and want to explore the lifestyle of a traveling foodie, here are some of the best ways to earn income with jobs involving food, all while fulfilling your passion for food.

WAYS TO MAKE MONEY WITH FOOD WHILE TRAVELING THE WORLD

Food Photographer

In many cultures, it's a sacred and religious tradition to pray before you eat your food... Well, in the world of foodie-ism, it's a sacred tradition to take pictures of your food before you eat! There's just something about when your food is brought out to you, the smell, the presentation of the food, and the overall vibe of the dining location just makes you want to share your experience with the entire world! And there's nothing wrong with that... In fact, there's a whole business that focuses on it.

There are lots of entrepreneurs who have started their own online business with the sole focus of selling food photography. The amazing thing about selling food photography is that it doesn't just have to be pictures of meals. Food Photography can come in the form of:
  • Pictures of spices and ingredients
  • Pictures of food vendors from all over the world
  • Pictures of the restaurant staff (cooks, chefs, servers, managers, etc)
  • Pictures of customers enjoying their meals

If you can follow the simple steps to build your online storefront, you'll be able to post your pictures on your site and vloggers, bloggers, and fellow foodies will be able to purchase the photos you had the peasure of taking and utilize them for their own personal use.

You can even sell various ingredients and spices you've taken pictures of through your site if you wanted. With an online store, you can sell practically anything!

Food Truck Owner
Image address: https://pixabay.com/photos/the-city-the-city-busan-busan-3515815/
Being a food truck owner, you literally embody the definition of "meals on wheels"... but being a food truck owner also gives you the ability to travel the world and make money doing it ! Maybe you are a connoisseur of all things involving a hot dog... You could take your hot dog skills and share your delicious dogs with the whole world!
It's amazing the places you will find yourself on four wheels.

Food Stylist
Stylists have always been though of as people working in the makeup, hair, and fashion industries... little do most people know that stylists run deep in the food industry as well! Just think about it... those bacon, avocado-ranch burgers don't just come off the grill looking that tasty... It takes a food stylist to make them look that good for restaurant menus.
If you consider yourself as someone who has a knack for putting things together and who personally, always makes your own homecooked meals look delicious, a career in food styling might be an avenue for you to travel down.

Food Critic
As a foodie, you've probably experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly of food, and in those food experiences, isn't it your duty to inform the world of your dining experiences? If you're a foodie who feels that type of social responsibility, then you're going to love working as a food critic.

Maybe you had a great experience at Friends and Family in BGC   and wanted to share your experience with your online audience... That's a great way to not only inform the public but to also enhance your critiquing skills. As a food critic, you're not only providing helpful information on the food but also on the overall experience.
Everything from the food and service to the cleanliness of the environment and overall vibe of the dining establishment, all paints a picture for those reading. Details are everything!

SPLICE in PORTAL, GREENFIELD: A Learning Experience

Starting from scratch, SPLICE in PORTAL, GREENFIELD, needs to up its game.

A week or so back, I was invited to try out a restaurant in GREENFIELD. Since I don't know the place, I went for it. Time to keep an open mind.

It was the first time that the kitchen was opened. It was actually their pre-launch. SPLICE was trying to test the water that night. The resto was filled with guests. From family and friends of the owners to media to cover the event.

We were first served POUTINE. Hand cut potatoes with Angus Beef Tapa on top. Nice little appetizer.

Crab meat salad was generally refreshing. Mayo based salad with real crab meat used. Avocado and mangoes bits were all around.

Their specialty would be the DONUT BURGERS. CHEF IVORY YAT loves THE SIMPSON and proudly names them from such. The donuts used are nicely cooked. Soft and not too oily. They all make them in house. The patty, on the other hand, is something simple. Other might compare it to a local fast food restaurant in taste. In any case, it is based on your preference.

This is the BARTHOLOMEW BURGER. Glazed donut as buns.

For something more chill, the LISA BURGER was served. A coleslaw mixture with some jalapeno to spice it up.

Great conceptualization but the DANGGIT and CHICKEN SKIN CARBONARA's execution needs to be improved. Yes, chicken skin and the danggit bits are welcomed treats but the carbonara wasa bit dull. It tasted like cream.

PUTANESCA pasta is basically just that. Anchovies and olive.

The BEEF STROGANOFF was tender and juicy. Although, it lacked the oomph I was looking for. The "gravy" was border like mushroom and cream beef without the mushroom.

CHICKEN SATAY with BUCO PANDAN RICE. The Chicken satay was pure white meat. Borderline moist and had a hint of peanut flavor. The buco pandan rice was disappointing. The smell of pandan was there but it was overcooked to the point that the moisture of the rice evaporated.

For dessert, we tried out some donuts. The donuts were perfectly cooked. I liked it because they were freshly made and done in house.

Chef IVORY YAT of Master Chef fame has her work cut out for her. SPLICE has a great concept. Nice interiors. Clean and simple. A lot of their offerings are basically comfort food delight. A price range of around 250Php per dish, they would definitely need to work it out to entice the PATRONS. I would suggest that SPLICE anticipate the needs of their dinners and try making the dishes even more lively.

After the night, I was filled with mixed emotions. I did enjoy some of their dishes but other needs more improvements. Granted that it was only the first time they opened and not yet for the public. I believe it was a learning experience for them and for me as well.

STELLA: Everything Under One Roof

BGC HIGH STREET CENTRAL has been a go to place when it comes to up and coming restaurants ever since it opened up its doors a couple of years back. Left and right, you would see a pizza place, a Chinese restaurant and even an organic restaurant. Some of these restaurant has stood up against the test of time. One of them is STELLA.

STELLA is one that serves almost everything you would like and love. The Stella's chef loves to create dishes and has a diverse menu. Mostly centering on comfort food, it has everything that would please each member of the family.
A wood fired bistro, STELLA has been a go to place for a steady lunch or a late night dinner.

Impatient diners such as my dad, would love STELLA's TRIO of DIPS (275Php).
You could use the wood fired crisp to scoop the roasted pumkin hummus, sundried tomato and red pepper mezze and my favorite, the truffled baba ghanoush.

If visiting for a snack, I would suggest you go for their PORCHETTA "Banh Mi" (350Php).
Crunchy skin of the porchetta goes well with the freshly baked bread. A lot of flavors is mixed up in this sandwich as asian slaw, sriracha mayo and other veggies that I dare not mention.

For a simple pasta dish, the HOUSEMADE CHORIZO and GARLIC SPAGHETTI (295Php) is the one to order. Roasted tomatoes and garlic slivers makes the pasta dish
One thing that I loved about STELLA is that they offer a lot of Pizza dishes. For the quality and the price range of these pizza, I know STELLA is a clear winner! The pizza aren't flat types rather they have a doughy backbone.

For this time around, it was the GARLIC BIANCA PIZZA (350Php) that was served.
Chewy crust and amazing toppings. Simple yet delicious.

In case you're craving for some, they also offer CHOWDER STUFFED JUMBO PRAWNS (595Php). The huge prawns are drenched with mixed seafood cream. Juicy and creamy!

For dessert, you can't go wrong with any choice.

They offer ice cream flavors like bubble gum, avocado and some mocha if you're up for it.

For someone that has a sweet tooth, the WARM CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY CAKE (295Php) is an ideal choice. Sweet and salty in one dessert. Hazelnut mousse, fish sauce crumble, coconut tuile accompanies the cake.
Yes, fish sauce. Weird but it works.

STELLA has been open for about 3 years now. They are one of the first restaurants that opened in BONIFACIO HIGH STREET CENTRAL. They serves everything that one could want and more. Their dishes are genuine comfort food and is honey to anyone giving it a try.

They also have amazing drinks that are showcased in their sister restaurant "The Rocket Room" next door.
I believe you could order from their amazing menu too.
Also, every Wednesday night is their Guilty Pleasures. Cool chill laid back vibe to drink the night away.

CARUSO RISTORANTE: Italian Cuisine in Makati

Like a scene from the movie, The Godfather, CARUSO RISTORANTE seems to be a place from history.

Located in MAKATI, CARUSO RISTORANTE can be a place for that romantic date or a family get together in the afternoon. Dress code is strict except for Sundays or family days.

Owned by Italian expats, you could be expect that the quality and the authenticity of the food is spot on.

Seeing foreigners mostly, I entered the place and figured out that I was in for a delightful lunch. When you see Italian guests eating at an Italian restaurant, this should make you happy.

You could start with a bubbly or a PROSECCO BRUT TREVISO 2013 (380/2800Php). Sweet and delicious. Perfect to start the meal.
If you have decided with your mains, you could go for a Chardonnay 2013 (360/1950 Php) a white wine or Carbernet Sauvignon 2013 (290/1850Php).

Freshly baked breads are served to start you up. You can't really ask them to serve the food faster because they are made with love and care. That is quality. Use this opportunity to talk to your friends and companions. A time to catch up.

INSALATA CARUSO (420Php). Mixed salad with tuna, boiled eggs, and mozzarella cheese. This is freshness personified or should I saw foodified. Healthy eaters would definitely dig this salad.

But you know me, I love a good ham and cheese. PARMAHAM with BURATA CHEESE (680Php). The ham is properly cured and is soft.. The cheese is not too salty and compliments the ham well. Perfect to go with the complimentary bread. Yuuuuumy!

It might look simple but this is its strongest characteristic. CALABRESE PIZZA (690Php). A combination of tomato, mozzarella, black olives, bell pepper and spicy salami. The Meat in itself is bacon like. Although it doesn't have that crunchy texture, the kick that comes from it is welcomed. No need to add hot sauce or whatever. The pizza does it for you.

A crowd favorite is the GARGANELLI PORCINI (620Php). You could smell it a mile away. The truffle and the mushroom aroma engulfs the room. I love it. They make their pasta in house. The sauce is not too creamy but it compliments the mushroom pretty well.

SCALOPPINE di VITELLO al LIMONE (830Php). Veal slices in lemon sauce. The veal in itself is good but the price in itself is a bit too much for just 2 slices.

SALMON FRESCO AGLIAGRUMI (830Php). This salmon is uberly fresh. The fillet is huge and perfectly cooked. The use of lemon and orange adds a different tangy flavor to the salmon. As such, it elevated the flavor. Wonderfully done.

As all good things must come to the end, dessert time is the best finisher.

A cup of coffee to accompany your choice of dessert.

TIRAMISU (320Php) Spongey coffee cake. It's all right.

This is what you should get for dessert. PANNACOTTA CLASSIC (320 Php). Homemade stuff. The cream and gellatin mixed well together. This was soooo good, I couldn't stop myself from slurping the plate, I mean my spoon. LOL!

At the end of the meal, they serve digestif. They leave them at your table for your own consumption. Theese babies right here would definitely rock your body. A shot from any one of these would keep those food down and would help in digestion.

Not only has it been up and running for 15 years, CARUSO RISTORANTE is a heavy weight in terms of giving it their best. The Italian cuisine and dishes they serve, alongside with the Filipino hospitality, makes them a definitely go to place to have a relaxing and delicious meal. Although it may seem pricey, the ambiance, quality, service and the feel of the restaurant pays for it. The Parmaham, Pizza, and Pasta are no brainers. Don't forget the dessert.

UCC CLOCKWORK in Capitol Commons.

Good coffee and good grub is often hard to come by. When I go to the usual places, it's either they have good food but their coffee doesn't compliment their dishes or it's the other way around. UCC's CLOCKWORK seems to overcome that barrier.
After the success of their 1st branch in Pasay, UCC CLOCKWORK opened up their ESTANCIA Branch.

Situated outside the mall, CLOCKWORK opens it doors at 7 in the morning. Allowing early morning joggers and breakfast yuppies access to amazing food and coffee. Honestly, I have been to UCC CLOCKWORK in ESTANCIA around 4x already. Every time, it has been a pleasure just chilling.
Wifi is free and they have a lot of sockets to plug your e-devices. So cheers for those study sessions and reports.

Aside from all of these perks, the food is definitely awesome.

BAKED NACHOS (320Php). Cheese and all those glorious toppings. A perfect munch on.

CHICKEN CRACKS (230 Php). Chicken skin. Mixed with spices with a honey vinegar dip.
High blood here I come.

To balance things out, you could go for their salads. QUINOA Grilled Chicken and Mandarine Orange Salad (320Php) in the background and GUILTLESS Salad (300 Php) on the foreground.
Of course I skipped em.

If you're into something light, you could go for:

BEEF HASH BENEDICT (320Php). Corn Muffin, Beef Hash, Bechamel, Poached Egg, Arugula and house salad.

A definite winner would be the GRILLED PULLED PORK with CHEESE (250Php). Gooey and yummy.

OUVO y NEGRA (280Php). Made with squid ink, this would make your lips a little black.

For adobo lovers, the ADOBO FLOSS PASTA PLATE #OMG (320Php) is the one to go to. Olive oil based with garlic adobo flakes. I liked the crunchy texture of the flakes.

If you are really hungry, they have full blown meals.

GRABBY FATTY OMURICE (350Php). Shredded Crab Meat is used and the rice is swarming with aligue cream and toro-toro egg.

For the fish eater, the MILKFISH BELLY PAKSIW (300Php) is a sure pick. Coconut vinegar base is perfect with the garlic rice. The eggplant katsu on the side is a nice addition to this dish.

ROSEMARY CHICKEN CRISP (320Php) has grilled herbed chicken. The rice in itself is flavorful. What joy was it to have a go at this.

and for the big boys, their steak dishes are the best.

US ANGUS RIB EYE STEAK (850/1500Php). This baby right here is tender and a steal. It is around 350grams/700grams for sharing. Sulit.

In case that you don't really want something big, you could go for plain STEAK and EGGS (650Php)
Either ASIAN or WESTERN style. This is the Asian style as it is on top of kimchi rice.

As this is also a coffee shop, they have dessert to partner with the different drinks.

THICK TOAST GREEN TEA NUTELLA (340Php). I was a little disappointed as the matcha flavor didn't stand out. Also, it was a bit cool when it was served. I would have wanted it to be warm. Maybe next time, I would ask them to properly heat it up.

CLAIRS (250Php) Japanese stle waffle crepe. Soft and light dessert.

A favorite of mine would be the MANGO CREPE SAMURAI (220Php). Bite sized crepe swimming in amazing custard sauce.

A crowd favorite, the JAPANESE PANCAKE (190Php) is delicious. Although it seemed normal, the fluffy pancake has crispy side. I enjoyed this dish even if I was super full. You need to take note though that this order takes a while as it is baked.

Definitely delicious and a fun experience, UCC CLOCKWORK delivers on what it is aiming for. To be precise. Free wifi and sockets is a big plus for working guys and gals and studying studs. This can definitely be a nice hung out place.
