IBIZA BEACH CLUB BGC: 15 COURSE MEATY DELIGHT

Glorious and diverse. Unlimited servings of wonderful and different cuts of meat could only be attained in one place in the metro, IBIZA BEACH CLUB IN BGC. Recently opened and patterned after the one in CEBU'S MOVENPICK HOTEL in MACTAN, you can definitely get your fill here.
With an impressive design catering to different types of gatherings, one could pick their own nook and just let the night fade away. A huge stage is in the center of the hall while sections upon sections surround it. The most impressive would be the outdoor seating with a jacuzzi. You could take a quick dip while partaking of an amazing meal.
Drinks seems to be the perfect way to start any visit. One of club's best seller would be their IBIZA SOUR. Not overly sweet, it's very similar to whisky sour. It's refreshing yet after a few glasses you might feel a little buzzed.
To make the most out of any visit, one should partake of the signature 15 course Balearic grill. At the start, you could go for their salad bar or have caesar salad created just for you. Each dish is cooked and created when you want it and as much as you can. For the price of Php 2,500 ++, you also have the option of having unlimited servings of award winning red and white Manny O. wines just by adding Php 600.
After starting with the greens, you could go for their seafood choices.  Salmon, Jumbo Prawns, Calamari, and even the Parrot fish. Each one with their specific flavor and right off the grill. Special mention has to go for the parrot fish. Each bite was packed with flavor and the texture wasn't as loose as other seafood might be. It was seriously good.
Meat is basically the main attraction of the 15 course grill buffet. From chicken to ribs and other delightful cuts, you won't go wrong with any. One must try everything then pick out their favorites to order more.
Crowd favorites would include the LAMB, FILET MIGNON, and RIB EYE. The lamb is cooked in such a way that it isn't as gamey as you would expect. The flavor is there and the meat is gorgeous. No need for any mint sauce. You could have it on its own. The Filet Mignon is US ANGUS wrapped in juicy bacon. The meat is tender and each one is proportioned correctly. It's like having bite sized steak prepared just for you.
If you're a steak lover, the RIBEYE would be your bet. Sourced from the US, it's their way of saying, here's the MEAT. Grilled and not overly done, you get to have the best of both worlds. Ask for the burnt ends just so you get something crispy to go with.
You don't see OSTRICH meat everyday. Cooked in medium rare, it's a bit tough but there lies an immense flavor with each mouthful. This is something you should try.
For dessert, you could go for the signature MOVENPICK ICE CREAM. With artisinal flavors, you won't go wrong with any. It's only here that you could try it out in the metro. Hopefully, they could introduced sugar-free versions.
But, the perfect ending would be the QUEEN PINEAPPLE. Roasted with cinnamon sugar, served with honey, fresh yogurt, and crushed nuts, you can't help but wonder how good your day is going because of everything that you have tried at IBIZA BEACH CLUB.

Seriously good, this is a place that can put both food and entertainment on the table. Definitely a place to visit to unwind and enjoy.

ATELIER VIVANDA in BGC: More Than Just Steaks.

Imagine a huge slab of meat greeting you as you enter a restaurant. One of the first thing that you look at when you enter a restaurant is the menu. At ATELIER VIVANDA, theirs is a simple and straight forward. They bring out an uncooked piece of meat to make you salivate and order everything on sight.
Located in Forbes Town Center near Burgos Circle, ATELIER welcomes you with warmth and an amazing ambiance. A circular staircase leads you to the second floor where a private room is also located.

Atelelier Vivanda does pretty well in the starters section. For soup, the pumpkin and the cauliflower are excellent choices. Not too creamy and has texture.
Two must order dishes would have to be the TRUFFLE FRIES and the MUSSELS. In true French fashion, the mussels were cooked in white wine, herbs and garlic. Partner it with bread and you have a great dipping experience. More so when you do it with the Fries. Cheesy but not too much, the Fries are excellent finger foods while waiting for the other dishes.
Mains are the star of the show but side dishes are the supporting cast.
Guests could opt for a sampler of three different accompaniments. The staff suggests sauteed potatoes, pommes darphin and pommes dauphines. The Pommes Dauphines are crowd favorites. These crisp potato puffs are a joy to eat. The darphin is like a hashbrown. Strands of potatoes are mashed together and deep fried. If there was one side to pick, it must be the GRATIN. The layer upon layer of potatoes are nicely stacked together with a bit of cream. It makes everything delicious.
Surprisingly, ATELIER VIVANDA has a plethora of main courses. They offer duck, seafood and even LAMB. The grilled lamb is simple. Cooked with a bit of oil, there was a hint of gamey flavor in it. The kitchen must have wanted to bring out the natural flavors of the meat.
The HOLSTEIN BEEF RIB would be your top choice. Steak is steak, as one friend would say. This was served huge and juicy. There was a bit of drippings still coming out. Once it was placed on the table, patrons would smell the richness of this dish. This is definitely for sharing.
Admittedly, the price point is a bit on the high side. This is expected as steak is not an everyday meal. The service was attentive and on point. It was also good to note that they started serving lunch meal sets to entice the public to give them a visit not just on special occasions.

IMPRESSIONS: BEEF and WINE Night by Chef Cyrille Soenen

On one fine night in Resorts World Manila, IMPRESSIONS presented an amazing buffet that screams incredible flavors and delicious dishes. Headed by Chef Cyrille Soenen, the BEEF and WINE NIGHT welcomed discerning guests and hungry appetites.
Located on the third floor of the Maxims Hotel in Resorts World Manila, IMPRESSIONS is the perfect date place for you and your love ones. Elegant decor and a long wine wall surrounds the restaurant.

I could see myself bringing or even proposing to a special someone in this particular establishment. That is the vibe that IMPRESSIONS gives off. Sincere, elegant and private.

THIS particular night's theme was the "BEEF and WINE night". IMPRESSIONS offers to serve you dishes that will make your food fantasy come true.
Unlimited refills of both white and red and even a buffet spread of even greater quality.

Different meats, cheese and a create your own salad serves as the first station of the buffet. The prosciutto and the cheese makes a nice starting plate because you could partner them with a red or a white wine.

Personally, I do away with the usual combination of red to dark meat and white to chicken and fish. I would go for whatever my taste buds desire. More often than not, my choice would be white because of the sweetness and the fruity touch.

A number of bread selections with different butter and spreads were next on the table. When in a buffet, I usually skip the carbs as one can easily get full from it.

Cold dishes lined up the counter. From a Smoked Beef Bacon Salad to Thai Beef Salad and a mixture of Filipino Beef Marrow Stew served in a soup like dish.

A must try though would be the BEEF CARPACCIO. This was infused with strawberry that made the dish work. The strawberry went well with the beef that gave it a different taste dimension.

For something heavy, the guests could choose from gratinated Beef Meat Balls with Sauce Mornay or even a Beef Ravioli with 3 sauces (Pomodoro, Beef Jus, Cheese) and a home made beef sausage. I enjoyed the different dishes as they didn't overpower one another. They worked well with one another.
For something to warm up the appetite, SHREDDED BEEF with vegetables served with hot beef consomme would be your pick.

The beefyness of the consomme did a number on my taste buds. It wasn't like your ordinary soup. Rather, it gave mouth reasons to jump for joy because of the savory and umami flavor it gave out.

The highlight of this buffet would have to be the carving station. Different cuts of meat were served and cooked based on your preference. A selection of side dishes like fries and backed potatoes would accompany your choice.

You could choose between Glazed Beef Short Ribs, Top Blade and the Beef Wellington.
In my honest opinion, the BEEF wellington was my top pick among the selection.
Basically a fillet of steak that is coated with different pate and duxelles or mushrooms and cooked with puff pastry. The layering of the flavors and the elements were in perfect harmony. Everything was distinct and delicious.

Since this was a special night CHEF CYRILLE brought out a couple of off the buffet menu dishes.

The first being this home made bacon. Not overly salty and has the perfect ratio of fat to meat, this is delicious. Partnered with wine and the potatoes, it goes without saying that any bacon lover would enjoy this.

Another surprise was the prime rib. The chef is particularly known for this and I am quite delighted with the quality and the flavor he was able to extract from this cut of meat.

Cooked medium rare, I believe this is the optimum level that one could enjoy this dish. He delivered it perfectly.

Seared underneath and on the side, this is a must order when one visit IMPRESSIONS.
For dessert, a number of different sweets were brought out.

From a mango meringue to a home made marshmallow and even a white chocolate molded and designed into a pistachio nut like form.
I would be the first to say that this type of buffet is not for everyone. Given that the quantity pales in comparison with other buffet restaurant, IMPRESSIONS lures you in because of the quality, flavor, service, and attention to detail. You go here because you want the good stuff and not just any useless calories that won't make you swoon with delight. A steak is cooked medium when asked and not medium well. They know the difference and the proper cooking techniques to produce amazing dishes. Having won 4 consecutive Philippine Best Restaurants Awards is just tip of the iceberg for Chef Cyrille and Impressions. Can't wait for what he has in store next.
