BROTZEIT in BGC: CHINESE NEW YEAR PLATTER

Something delicious comes with BROTZEIT'S CHINESE NEW YEAR PLATTER. Only available until FEBRUARY 5, 2017 SUNDAY, this huge selection is good for 3 to 4 people and is perfect to partner with anything alcoholic.
Trying it out in BROTZEIT'S newest branch in SHANGRI-LA FORT BGC, one can never go wrong with anything on the menu. The whole thing goes perfectly well with their top class beers. Personally, flavored ones like the cranberry, mango and even spiked with vodka and lime are great choices.

Starting off with some grilled SALMON, the saltiness works well with a bit of citrus flavor from the lemon. Very clean and smooth.

The ROASTED PORK BELLY was served with beer sauce. The skin was crunchy and the meat was moist and decadent. It was a perfect combination to the different beers that were served.
The most impressive item on the platter would have to be the ROASTED CHICKEN.
This isn't like your ordinary roadside poultry. The chicken was marinated with different sauces, herbs and stuffed with lemon. The different flavors popped out. The skin was juicy and the meat was flavorful and not dry.
Accompanying it was 3 kinds of mushrooms and a couple of sides. While the cabbage in garlic sauce was just okay, the sweet potato mash worked wonders with the meat. The mushrooms complimented everything too.
The CHINESE NEW YEAR PLATTER is only available until the end of the week. Hopefully, you guys get to try it out. Cheers!

BROTZEIT in Shangri-la BGC: Prost!

For someone needing a quick break and a glass of German beer, BROTZEIT in BGC is the best place to go to. Located in the new Shangri-la Hotel block in between the Mind Museum and Bonifacio High Street Central, BROTZEIT opened their third branch just last weekend.

During a media event, the people behind Brotzeit rolled out the big guns and never looked back.

Right from the start, they had sausages and their famous pork knuckles right there for the taking.

The sausages had different texture and flavor that would make them pairing with beers heavenly.

The knuckles were pretty intense. Imagine crunchy skin and moist meat. Take note, these aren't fried. They are cooked in an oven. Bad ass right there.

Aside from the stars of the night, simple but delicious hors d'oeuvres were served too. Wrapped up ham and cheese were placed on top of freshly baked bread. Delicious.

The pub vibe will not be complete without beer. Here at BROTZEIT, GERMAN BEER is their bread and butter.

For someone that is not really into beer, I was delighted and pleased with their flavored ones. Different fruit flavors were used to make the beer more enticing to a none beer drinker like me.

In line with the celebration of the GERMAN BEER PURITY LAW, which limits beer ingredients to water, barley and hops,  they are serving a new seasonal menu to attract beer lovers.
Without a doubt the Pan Seared Sea Bass with weissbier is the choice dish of the night. If you must have just one dish to order, this must be it. The fish was well cooked. The meat was moist and the flavors were there. Even if the hollandaise sauce wasn't that evident, the fish was definitely the focus of the dish.

For pork lovers, the slow roasted pork in dark beer sauce would be your choice. Accompanied by a bacon-cabbage salad, the slow roast gave of a dark malty flavor since it was marinated with beer. The napkin dumpling should not be confused with the Chinese version. This one is traditionally made with stale bread and taste a little bland but it would go well with the pork.
Honestly, I enjoyed the VEAL. The Veal Ragout was served with napkin dumplings and red cabbage. Not overly gamey, the veal was tender and I enjoyed it.

Granted that I'm not a liver eater person, the Roasted Liver in dunkel weissbier was pretty good. The soup sauce was reminisce of beefsteak or bistek. This would go well with garlic or white rice.
To end the meal, BEER BATTERED APPLE SLICES were served. This had a side of vanila ice cream and were covered with cinnamon sugar. I enjoyed the texture of the coating and also the bite that came from the apples. The berries were a nice touch too.
With BROTZEIT opening up in Shangri-la The Fort, patrons are given more choices on where to go and to dine. This would definitely be a nice place to visit for a German food craving or if you are into football or any other sports as they would surely have viewing parties of such. In anycase, I hope you could visit today because they have a 50% off on all food items up until today (April 20, 2016). PROST!

BROTZEIT'S RECOVERY FOOD: Perfect for the Season.

When it comes to drinking, one place comes to mind, BROTZEIT. We all know that BROTZEIT offers authentic and honest to goodness selection of beers and alcoholic concoctions that would make you go all out.
Recently, they are prepping for OCTOBERFEST and as such, came out with a new line up of RECOVERY FOOD. Amazing dishes lined up to soothe the soul and the mind.

Perfect dishes meant to help you relax and recover from that headache and even a hungover.
Not only that, these dishes are perfect for that broken heart or even that cold feeling we get from the rainy season.

To start things off, the MARINIERTES RINDFLEISCH MIT KARTOFFEIN would make you relax.

I know the name is a mouthful, but you could just say what it is. A corned beef soup. In house corned beef with potatoes and carrots are the main ingredients but the soup is so filling and delicious. The meat is tender and absorbed the flavors.

If soup isn't your thing, you have to try the RINDSRAGOUT. BEEF stew with buttered spaetzli, apricot and cranberry.

Another must try is the comforting HUHNERBRUST-EINTOPF IM BLATTERTEIG. This chicken dish is stewed in beer with carrots and pearl onions. The onion gives the dish texture. The Chicken is moist. Yummy.

I was surprised with the LACHS MIT ROSOTTO. The SALMON was perfectly cooked and the risotto was beer infused. You may think that it looks a bit pale but when you give it a try, you will like it.

One can't go to BROTZEIT without their version of a CRISPY PATA. Yes this behemoth of a dish came with a plethora of side dishes. The skin was crunchy and the meat flavorful. DAMN
To end the meal, they had desserts that helps you recover from the epic meal.
HEISSE SCHOKOLADE and the SAHNE-FLAN MIT RUMTOPF. The schokolade or HOT CHOCOLATE drink is comforting. Made with bittersweet chocolate and topped with whipped cream, you can't go wrong with this favorite. It made me remember my childhood days, when life is all good because of chocolate. The Sahne-flan or Vanilla pudding is topped with rum braised fruits so it gives you that sweet alcoholic taste.

Another one to try is the BAYRISCHE CREME or Bavarian Cream with Strawberry Preserve.
Not too sweet and just right.

Since, we are trying to recover and I know it is a cycle. You can't help but say, to hell with it and still want a drink or two.
Here comes the new beers that are available. The ORIGINAL WEIHENSTEPHANER and the WHEAT BEER, the HEFEWEIBBIER.

I'm no beer enthusiast but one thing is for sure... It's a definitely a good time to start now. One is sweet while the other just right.

PROST!!!! Admittedly, BROTZEIT has some difficult terms to remember, good thing we could always rely on suggestions and also the staff has the knowledge needed to explain everything on the menu. I am definitely going back for OCTOBERFEST !!!! CHEERS!

BROZEIT in GLORIETTA: Perfect for a COLD ONE.

More than beer, BROZEIT delivers amazing German Food Fare.

One of the places that I would love to go to would be GERMANY. The place intrigues me. It was once a super power that led the world into a world war. Aside from the historical importance of the place, I would like to understand their culture. I guess one of the biggest part of culture is food. Since I won't be able to travel to Germany anytime soon, I am thankful that BROZEIT brought some good old GERMAN FOOD and BEER.

Of course the beer, their beer is amazing. I can say that because some of the oldest brewery in the world came from them.

Now, BROZEIT recently opened a new branch in Glorrieta. Aside from their Shangrila Branch, they have this amazing new one that has an outside bar. Great for al fresco dining and drinking.
Right infront of G5.

Perfect for that COLD ONE.

Lunch time and I arrive at the place and behold a cold one is right there for me.
This Weihenstephan is a premium one. It is one of the oldest brewery as it was open since 1040. Yes sir! That long.

One of the most epic thing to do in a bar is prepare the beer. I was able to learn a thing or two of how to do it.
You get a glass and blast it with water to make sure that its clean and cool.
Tilt the glass 45 degress and fill  it up slowly.
The froth is there so that everything stays underneath. So you should drink the beer and not the top part.

Along with the KTG folks, we were able to try out some awesome new dishes from the team of BROZEIT.

We started off with some appetizers. The Cheese Fondue (900++ Php)

The cheese concoction is amazing. Thick and has that slight salty taste. Alongside with some amazing stuff to dip it in. Pretty amazing.
Olives, steak, sausages and pretzels. I liked the olives as it give a contrast to the beer you would be drinking. The steak is perfect with the cheese and so as the sausage.
If you aren't into those, the pretzel is the bread to partner the cheese with. Sarap!!!

Since it is the Lenten season, BROZEIT figured that they would make a few dishes that would cater to the public and partner them with a few beer.

We started off with FISCHKLOPSE SASSNITZER ART (390Php). I know the names of the dishes at BROZEIT may be a mouthful for us Filipinos but they sure are delicious and interesting.
Sassnitz seafood with roasted vegies and lemon butter sauce. The butter sauce is definitely a joy to eat. Partnered with the ball like dish, the TAP1 : Mein Blondes is the perfect one for us light lovers. The taste is refreshing and not too heavy nor bitter.

The KREUTERKRUSTETE KABELJAUS (590Php) is herb crusted cod fish with beer infused risotto.
Different if you ask me. On top is a parmesan crisp. The Cod had a different texture as it had a herb crust. The risotto has a distinct flavor as it was beer infused. Tap4: Mein Grunes is the best colleague for this dish.
Full bodied and perfect for fish dishes.

One of my favorites is the MEERFRUCHTESFLECKERIN (450Php) or backed seafood pasta.
The pasta was perfectly cooked. Light yet filling. Partnered with Weihenstephan Lager. It makes a deadly combination.

THUNFISCH (450Php) seared tuna with pesto wild rice.

The pesto rice is amazing. You could smell and taste the fresh herbs with every bite. The Tuna is cooked just right.
You could have this dish with a Paulaner original dunkel lager. A bit too dark for me but it goes well with the dish.

The perfect way to end the meal was dessert.
However sweet it may be, an assortment of fresh fruits and some Kaiserschmarrn or emperor's pancake dipped in a special chocolate fondue is addictive and delicious.
The choco dip is made with valrhona chocolate and some special Filipino made chocolate. The Chef wouldn't want to give out the secret ingredient but it was delicious.
We even mixed the left over chocolate with some coffee and it was great.

The food was spot on and perfect for your beer loving frenzy. It was great of BROZEIT to think about the market and added some seafood dishes for this lenten season. The quality of the beer they served alongside with the awesome dishes makes it stand out. Admittedly, it may be a bit expensive when you drink and dine here. BUT, the service and the quality you get definitely makes up for it.

Also for the CHINESE NEW YEAR, they have this:
I am eyeing that Jaeger shot!! Damn!
