Revisiting the BURGER JOINT in PASIG

There comes a point in time that diners would always go back to their favorite restaurants. It can't be always something new. At BURGER JOINT, they try to create different dishes to lure guests back. Mixing old with new, it all works out.
BURGER JOINT is located in SM PASIG along C-5 road. Just across Tiendesitas, the restaurant is just a small hole in the wall perfect for hungry shoppers.

One could start off with some delicious milkshakes that the kitchen has prepared. It could be a brownie filled chocolate version or even a red velvet. Thankfully, it isn't overly sweet.

For starters, one could go for their LOADED NACHOS. This snack is topped with every topping you would want. To give it a more refreshing taste, they even have watermelon cubes on top.

Another must get dish would be their CLASSIC BUFFALO WINGS. The wings are covered with delicious sauce. The chicken has properly absorbed the flavor. Eating this with bare hands would be awesome. Better, they give you plastic gloves to eat them without the mess.
Burgers are the bread and butter of BURGER JOINT. Being able to make everything in house makes the flavors pop out more. Cheese lovers would enjoy the JUICY LUCY. Cheese is stuffed into the burger patty to ensure there's that salty flavor in each bite. For guests with huge appetites, they could go with the WTF. A behemoth of a burger. Bacon, cheese and everything you would need for that protein loading bite.
For something a bit smoky, the SOUTHWEST BBQ would be your bet. Once this burger is placed on your table, you can't help but feel your mouth go wet with anticipation. It's like having a bbq fiesta in your mouth. Delicious.
BURGER JOINT in SM PASIG serves delicious burgers at affordable prices. Being able to dish out no frills dishes makes visitors come back for more.

BIRDHOUSE In UPTOWN MALL BGC to Open This Week

A good chicken place needs to be comforting and easy on the pocket. BIRDHOUSE tries to achieve this and more. Slated to open on September 1, Thursday, BIRDHOUSE aims to provide your chicken needs in UPTOWN MALL BGC.

Rather than having real birds, the restaurant offers quick and satisfying meals to its visitors. Located in the Food Court area of UPTOWN BGC, this is one of the many dining choices you have in the mall.
Guests have the option to pick how many pieces of fried chicken they wish to eat. From here, they could order some sides and even deep fried chicken skin.
The chicken in itself is heavy flavored and drowned with seasoning. To counter this, the restaurant offers a number of different sauces for you to choose from. Interestingly enough, they have some truffle ketchup, green stuff, and even good old fashion gravy.
For someone that doesn't like bones, they could go for the CHICKEN TENDERS. Other than this, they also have one sandwich to offer those that are trying to cut out rice. The SALTED EGG LAVA CHICKEN SANDWICH. Soft brioche bread is used to carry this behemoth. Salted egg flows out with each bite.
For dessert, the WAFFLE with CRISPY CHICKEN SKIN would be sufficient. Thick waffle went extremely well with the ice cream and the crispy skin.
Admittedly BIRDHOUSE has a lot to offer the dining public. There are still room for improvement that is normal for new restaurants. Give it a couple of weeks to sort out the kinks and hopefully it would be awesome.

MAX'S Fried Chicken, KRISPY KREME and DEE'S Gourmet Popcorn

When it comes to culture, Filipinos generally honor and tend to go back from where they come from. At MAX'S, it mixes tradition and good old fashion innovation.
Recently, Max's has not just become a household name. Rather, it has diversified and grown into a beautiful butterfly. It has taken over other restaurant chains and even ventured into the hotel business with MERANTI (You could check out MERANTI HOTEL here.)
By serving honest to goodness dishes, one can't go wrong with MAX'S. One could start off with some pinakbet or mixed vegetables in shrimp sauce. This would partner well with the crispy pata or pork knuckles. The crunchy skin is a wonderful delight.
Historically, it would be the KARE KARE that would go well with the Cripsy Pata. But with Max's, everything works well with one another.
The main star of the show would be the Classic Fried Chicken. This is Max's bread and butter. Not only is it juicy, it goes well with the Banana Ketchup.
Dessert is an amazing part of the meal. You get to try out cakes and wonderful dishes from MAX's very own bakery.
If you want something more, there is also a KRISPY KREME store ready to serve your needs. Sugar coated donuts with different flavor to get you up on your toes. Delicious.
Try out the normal glaze donut version. You get to have a baseline of everything.
If you want something to munch on and has that sweet craving, try out DEE'S GOURMET POPCORN. The flavors are wonderfully done and it gives you something more than your ordinary movie snack.

BGC'S FAT!: Making Your Tastebuds Jump for Joy

Serving amazing dishes for the longest time, FAT in BGC'S Burgos Circle area can be one of your comfort food go to places.

Having a simple and clean vibe, the restaurant is quite homey and perfect for a small gathering of friends and family. One thing to remember, FAT doesn't believe in MSG. They wish to serve dishes through the natural way. They want the flavors to come alive.
One dish that made FAT famous would be the GREEN TEA CHICHARON (190Php). The Pork Skin was stretched to its limits to make this huge chicharon. Made in house, it is guaranteed fresh and crunchy. Served with Honey, Vinegar, Pickled Vegetables and Green Tea Salt, guests will be able to try different flavor profile of this pork rinds. They suggest mixing the vinegar and honey to make the sweet and sour taste pop out.
Another deadly yet invigorating dish would be the BONE MARROW SISIG PLATTER (395Php). The perfect way of eating this would be to use the bread as a vessel to put everything together. Butter it up with the bone marrow. Then, place some sisig on top. The Tomatao Jam would be able to give it a bit of sweetness.
The FAT SURF n TURF (500Php) is a crowd favorite. Sous Vide Hangar Steak with Prawns and vegetables. Served with either rice or tortilla wrap. Even if the steak served was not the best cut, you would appreciate the sous vide. This enables it to make the meat more tender. Once you wrap everything together, it seems that you have that soft taco that you can't get enough of.

One of FAT'S newest item would be the SALMON BURGER (490Php)
Made with 100% Salmon, the patty's goodness can't be denied. Emmenthal, gruyere, red onion, wasabi mayo and balsamic cream. This is one of their "healthiest" dishes. The patty is made without extenders. Mixed with just a small amount of seasoning, the flavor is brought out properly.
For dessert, the PEACH PANNA COTTA (100Php) would be your best bet. Grilled peach served with candied almonds and sugar tuile.  It has the right amount of sweetness to end the meal.

FOOD SESSIONS WITH THE HUAWEI P9

It has been a long time coming. Believe it or not, I haven’t changed my mobile phone in the last 5 years. I was afraid that the new models are not going to cut it when it comes to getting decent photos. Worst, most of them are expensive. Thankfully, I was given the chance to try out the new HUAWEI P9.

For an entire afternoon till late at night, I did the most crucial field test any foodie photographer could think of : A FOOD CRAWL. I left the professional camera at home and just brought the HUAWEI P9 to document the gastronomic adventure in POBLACION, MAKATI.

Barangay Poblacion in Makati City has been making the local news not because of its red light district reputation but rather, there has been a surge of hole in the wall restaurants in the area. BEAN AND YOLK is one of the newest establishments that could tickle your fancy. Located near a famous tattoo parlor, this small café serves only egg dishes and delicious coffee.
The HUAWEI P9’s take showed the vibrant colors and the crisp texture. And yet, this was just on its default setting.  By pressing a part of the screen, the camera would focus on that specific area giving it more attention and detail. Natural light definitely does wonders when taking photographs.
After starting with something familiar, head on over to TAMBAI. Literally meaning “to hang out”, Tambai used to be a convenient store and got converted into a grilling place. Here, they serve a number of yakitori dishes that cater to the Filipino palate.
Some might find the choices exotic, but one of their best sellers would be the BEEF INTESTINE. The isaw is a known delicacy that every Filipino has tried once in their life. If in case you are a bit apprehensive or indecisive, you might want to go for their YAKITODO or their huge sampler platter.

Even if it was getting dark, it is evident here that the camera still worked well with its sensors even in poor condition. It is amazing that the HUAWEI P9 was able to capture vivid detail even if the light source was hard to come by. Users would also enjoy the option to edit the photos as the software of the mobile camera delivers.

By crossing Kalayaan Avenue, one might find THE WILD POPPY. This after work hangout place has been popular with the yuppies. Even if it had just opened a few months ago, word of mouth has attracted a considerable number of workers and foodies to this restaurant. It serves bold Asian Flavors and is known for their Baos.

Aside from bar chows, drinks are a staple.  The menu shows the quirky side of the owners and is able to quench the appetite of millenials.
One impressive camera feature that the HUAWEI P9 has is its powerful monochrome option. Showing great detail, this black and white effect could deliver powerful images. Perfect for taking photos of people and situations.
To cap off the night, one could jump on over to BENI’S FALAFEL. Situated in A Venue, this 24/7, almost vegetarian, healthy option restaurant serves delicious Middle Eastern fare. The must tries would be the Falafel and the Shakshuka.

Most photographers would blush when they get to try out the dlsr setting of the HUAWEI P9. Here you could change the ISO, shutter speed, and even the depth of field making the most out of the DOUBLE LEICA CAMERA LENS.
The possibilities are endless with the HUAWEI P9. The interface has the consumer in mind. A photographer would appreciate the professional like tweaks while any everyday user would enjoy the different settings and functions that this mobile camera phone has to offer.
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted with the HUAWEI P9. The 5.9 inch screen was smooth and perfect for playing games and even watching videos.  Main standout would be the Dual 12MP Leica Main Camera. Having a 3,000 mah battery also helps this cellphone last longer. The HUAWEI P9 retails for 23,9990Php. Talk about another perfect choice.
