LATE NIGHTS IN CEBU: MAYA and MUSIC ONE KTV


Late nights in Cebu could be a blur. Specially for me, as i only visited the place for a few days. Thankfully, I have some friends there to guide me. 
A drink is all I could ask for. MAYA, known for its "Mexican Vibe", seemed like a good place to start.
With a bar that caters to mostly foreign guests, you could still be at east knowing that the prices here are quite reasonable compared to METRO MANILA STANDARDS. A drink would cost around 200 bucks. Pretty cheap thinking that some bars bill around 300-400 for a premium glass.
The bar could be a little busy so its wise to head on up to the couch section and do some people watching.
 
 I love their Mojito and their Amaretto Sour. Base alcohol used are top notched that you could taste the difference.
One mustn't miss checking out their MAYA NACHOS. Masa chips covered in cheese, salsa roja, sour cream & pickled jalapenos. Add some chili con carne while you are at it. Huge servings!!!

 After a night of drinking and chilling, I still didn't want to go home. Thankfully there are 24/7 places where one could hungout. One such place is MUSIC ONE KTV.
 Quite different from the KTV's we have in the metro. This place caters not only to loud singers but also to dvd marathons, console gaming and poker nights.
 Slick and posh setting. I like
 There are individual rooms to rent and you could pretty much be at ease because they got food  and drinks for those kungfu (kungfumulutan) and for those nightcaps.
  Aside from all the places I have been to, it was a pleasure and an awesome experience to at least test the late nights in Cebu with great friends. I guess its all with the company. Awesome.

Dessert in Cebu : FUDGE and DONG JUAN

I know that it may seem a bit late right now to post this but I am trying to get rid of all the back log that I have. Admittedly so, I still have certain portions of my South Korean trip not yet published so apologies left and right. 
Anyway, a few months back, I traveled down south for a gastronomic adventure. I returned to Cebu after more than a decade just to enjoy all of its delicacies. On one point of this trip, I was joined by Justinne. Believe it or not, this girl is but a student still and yet she is doing pretty well both in the blogging world and in the food business as well (brownie cupcakes anyone?).... 

Anyway, I was able to try 2 dessert places in Cebu that seemed all righty!

First stop was FUDGE . Getting there was quite easy as it was found along A.S. Fortuna. After a brief stroll from the old location of LITTLE SAIGON BIG BANGKOK (CLICK HERE), Justinne brought me to this awesome dessert place. 

Being full didn't stop us from trying things out. Started off with some Crinkles at 12Php a piece. 
 Surprisingly not sweet. Yeah! I think I needed to add more sugar just to have it go that way.
 After, we went for their best sellers. 
The SWEET POTATO CAKE.
 Not too rich, yet suprisingly chocolatey. The innards are sweet potato based. Not really overwhelming but spot on. 

Another would be their LAVA CAKE. Unassuming and simple. It took awhile for this to be served as they make it fresh.

MOVING ON to a different restaurant / and a different day, DONG JUAN, came into mind. After eating lechon,  my friends and I were in a look out for good dessert. Not knowing where, I remembered DONG JUAN popping up in a conversation.
Luckily, we stumbled upon this place with all the joy riding that occurred. 
 The ICE CREAM BURGER was actually cookies with a huge slab of ice cream in between. 
I would have wanted the cookies softer and warmer just to see everything melt.
 The WARM BROWNIE MELT was much much better. The brownie was soft and warm while the ice cream melted away. Cool for the summer heat.
 These two awesome restaurant are note worthy places to try when eating dessert in Cebu.
Affordable and quite easy to go to, its relaxing chill to stay and relax at.

CEBU's Little Saigon Big Bangkok with Babe For Food.


A few months back, I found myself going out and meeting up with a dear blogger friend from down south. 

You see, I had a spur of the moment Cebu Chillax Trip. I was pretty lucky to meet Cebu's Babe For Food's Justinne just a couple of weeks before that here in Manila at SILK ROAD BGC with Sir Richie.  When I met her, I knew I would enjoy her company when I get to CEBU.

Thankfully, our schedules jived and I was able to hungout with her for an awesome night of fun, food and drinks.

First stop on the list is LITTLE SAIGON BIG BANGKOK.
 One of Cebu's well loved restaurant, LITTLE SAIGON BIG BANGKOK serves awesome Thai and Vietnamese food. Their theme is pretty much straight forward fresh street food.

Located in a Parking Lot, its quite difficult to go to the place. It is so easy to miss if you don't know where it is. You would be pretty amazed with the feel and the vibe it gives out. Alfresco seating is pretty awesome and has a light vibe. Indoor is a bit dark but definitely warrants a relaxing mood.
 The owners flew in some authentic kitchen ware and did some tweaks and tricks to the dishes. They also made it a point to cook the dishes as they are ordered. Those plus awesome taste buds and a feel for the wants of the dinners, you get a pretty good food combination.
After our pleasantries, Justinne suggested the things that we NEEDED to order..
 Not try but NEEDED! LOL!
Not to be missed would be the LSBB TINI (150/600Php).
This sweet yet citrusy drink definitely readies your appetite for the meal ahead. Sarap! Manong one more~!

To start the meal, we had the GOI CON or spring roll (50Php/Piece)
Spring roll with lemongrass, grilled pork and veggies. It was a little too fresh for me. You know me. LOL!

 Next up is AYUTTHAYA (225Php). Its a version of their homemade Asian corn tortillas. 
Thai basil chicken, roasted chile, "relleno". Definitely a must try. The flavors of the basil chicken is spot on. It was an interesting play of textures. My mouth was happy.

My favorite of the night would be their take on PAD THAI (225Php)
Fried rice noodles, tamarind, shrimp, sprouts, chilles, peanuts. I cried. I sh*t you not. A tear or two went down my cheek as I savor each bite. I don't know if it was the spices but I loved it! Crap! Now I am salivating!

For something healthy, we had the THAI FRIED FISH (325Php).
Crispy fillet, mango salsa, Thai chilie sauce. I loved the salsa. It compliments the fish pretty well.

The last dish we had was the BANH XEO.(295Php)
Crispy coconut milk crepe with shrimp, pork, sprouts and lettuce. For me, it lacked that crispy level one should have for this dish. Although the flavors were exceptional, the texture was a little lacking.



Overall, it was a nice place to relax and enjoy good food. Better than everything else, I enjoyed the company. Thank you Justinne for bringing me here and letting me enjoy their dishes. I so love it.

P.S.
It seems to me that they changed their location. When I visited them, I was able to speak with Mark, owner of the resto, and he had planned to move the location of the restaurant. Well apparently, they moved it already to their new spot in Mango Square Mall.  



They usually change their menu from time to time.
