POKE BOWLS: HOLIDAY INN MAKATI'S ALA CARTE DISHES

I have been hearing about the POKE BOWLS from HOLIDAY INN MAKATI since it started last year. Every single time my friends and I would meet, they would mention this amazing meal as if it was something to look forward to. Just a few days back, I was finally able to try it out.
Rather than going for it all at once, different dishes were placed to start the long lunch. Appetizers like this dip and nachos were paraded on the table. Each with their munching characteristics, it's so easy to over indulge.
Greens like the Ceasar Salad are also there. But if you know me, I believe that it's best to let the others enjoy it.
Their SANDWICHES though are pretty packed. Just like this one. It's filled with layers of ham and even cheese. If you're a bit on the healthy side, you might want to go for their salmon wrap. Don't worry, it's also as bad ass as this sandwich.
For the main event, HOLIDAY INN presents it's POKE BOWLS. Pegged at Php 360 nett, these bowls can be compared to others in the city. They're huge and is actually best for sharing.
There are 3 different bowls to choose from. The first two are your plain salmon or tuna bowls. It basically boils down to your personal preference.
The favorite though would have to be the SPICY TUNA BOWL. It's like a mix of hot but fresh flavors. Take note though, you could go for brown or white rice and even you get to pick the sauces. For the spicy tuna, I would suggest going for the Spicy Chili sauce. For the Salmon, the sriracha mayo would work.
If in case you are looking for some more dishes, they got a couple more that might be worth your while.
Having the beef kebab would be for you if you're into something more meaty. It's best eaten with the baked potato but having rice on the side doesn't hurt. The Pan Fried Coated fish though is the bomb! Served with grilled vegetables and rice, it's definitely a secret waiting to be unleashed.
HOLIDAY INN MAKATI is a hotel that is located along Palm Drive in Makati. It is connected to the Glorietta mall, giving it access to a lot of restaurants, stores, and shops. The Poke Bowls are available for the whole month of March and is only priced at 360Php Nett. You can't get a better deal than that.

HOLIDAY INN MAKATI: DRINKS AND EATS AT THE BAR

Just drinks and some chow. That was how the bar at the HOLIDAY INN HOTEL MAKATI seems to put it. Quite simple and straightforward. Located on the roof deck with the pool, one could relax and enjoy the sun sets while having a drink or two.
You pick a seat outside for a little bit of that chill breeze or stay inside by the bar. There are times that there's a band or even a dj that could play your favorite tune.
Most of the dishes that they serve are perfect bar chows. They have a salmon dip that you could partner with the different sauces of the nachos.
There's also some deep fried goodies like this cheesy potato croquette and calamares.
Having a beer would go perfectly well with their version of the fish and chips. Believe it or not the fries was the star of this dish. It seems they were cooked twice. It retained the crispiness and had a bit of chewy texture.
They also make their own pizza from scratch. It's a bit of an overload but having a slice on one hand and a drink on the other would let you take it easy all night long.
Of course visitors and guests would sometimes need more than just snacks. The bar also serves a mean version of the beef salpicao that it warrants a cup of rice or two.
It's really the company and the experience that makes a place great. It's how you perceive everything. Cheers Holiday Inn Hotel Makati.

HOLIDAY INN FLAVORS : DEN LIM IN THE CITY

The beauty that is food. Every time I smell something good, it's like I'm transported back to a specific memory, a time that I would never forget. One of the things that I really hold dear to my heart would be when my lola and mom would cook together. The fact that they are Kapangpangans makes a whole lot of sense when you get to taste their cooking. It's like it's in the blood. That's why I'm happy to say that I finally tasted Chef Den Lim's Capangpangan cooking and it definitely took me back.
Chef Den Lim is the person behind the famous Denlim's Kitchen. It's a home based project that offers private dining only. To get a slot into this coveted meal means calling weeks and even months in advance. Thankfully, Holiday Inn Makati brought in Chef Den and partnered up to have some of his dishes in the buffet spread.
To start things off, a welcome drink with a tamarind base was served. Something similar to what Chef Den Lim has in his home restaurant, Holiday Inn gave it a little twist just so as to let the guests have a taste of what's to come.
If you're a little bit unsure of what to get first, you could try out their version of the roasted chicken. Glazed with a soya based marinate, the meat is moist and flavorful.
Time for something more serious, head on over to the old fashioned beef mechado. What's interesting here is that this meat is cooked for hours upon hours. You get to see the texture is quite different from other dishes of the same class. The meat stands on its own and didn't disintegrate which usually happens if cooking isn't done right.
A behemoth dish, the CAVEMAN BEEF SHANK is the chef's version of a sizzling bulalo. The meat is tender and goes extremely well with the mushroom sauce. Speaking of, something saucy, the CRAB MARLEN is just amazing. Made with a large number of salted egg, this crab dish is just excellent. One way of eating it is to partner it with plain rice and scoop all the excess juice and sauce into your plate. From here, eat it slowly just so that you could enjoy every bite.
Another very interesting dish by Chef Den Lim, the KILAYIN CAPAMPANGAN. When he describe this dish as something very local, you could see it in his eyes how passionate he is about it. The way he mentions how it is usually served in street side eateries and how he cooks it with vinegar to give it that sour and acidic flavor. Similar to the bopis, this one is another must get dish.
If there was one dish not to be missed, it would be this PUGON LIEMPO.
One could actually eat it on its own or wrap it with lettuce and other vegetables with the chef's home made buro. The meat is tremendously soft. The skin, on the other hand, is crunchy and just perfect. To have it with the Pork Buro is just amazing. For the uninitiated, buro is fermented rice usually with fish or shrimps. His version is with pork. Quite interesting and delicious to say the least.
You got to make some room for the pasta. Chef Den Lim created the PASTA CORRITO. A rich seafood noodle dish that has shrimps, mussels, seafood brine, capers, and extra virgin olive oil. I can't really explain it but it made me get doubles.
As always, other dishes and food stations are present from Holiday Inn's Flavors. You could go for some sushi, grilled seafood or barbecue, noodles, and the dessert station.
Chef Den Lim and his creations will be at FLAVORS in HOLIDAY INN MAKATI. From October 10-19, 2017, his dishes would be available for both lunch and dinner. Pegged at Php 1,818 nett, it's quite a steal as you don't need to travel up north or even reserve way in advance.

HOLIDAY INN MAKATI: AMERICAN FOOD FESTIVAL at FLAVORS

If I was on the go or had major cravings, it would be for burgers. Burgers has been there for years. Easy to eat and you could bring it anywhere, these are meals on the go. At FLAVORS in HOLIDAY INN MAKATI, they made this the centerpiece of their AMERICAN FOOD FESTIVAL.
Located on the lobby floor of the HOLIDAY INN, FLAVORS is the all day dining restaurant of the hotel. Spacious seating and excellent service, one can be at ease when visiting this hotel restaurant.
This JULY, FLAVORS would be serving their AMERICAN FOOD FESTIVAL every FRIDAYS, SATURDAYS, and SUNDAYS. This is the time that different American themed dishes are served.
One could start off with some freshly baked bread with some cold cuts and an assortment of salads. You could also create your own version of the caesar salad in their huge wooden bowl.
Dishes such as the BABY BACK RIBS, BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN, and other familiar favorite entrees are served at one corner of the buffet spread. That time around, there was roasted chicken in the fray as well.
Furthermore, they have a carving station that has different types of steak depending on which day you visit. You could also pick different items to grill based on your preference.
The main draw would be the Burger Bar. A tough choice between a chicken patty or beef must be made. From here, toppings such as onions, tomatoes, and pickles could be added. One could even ask for bacon and eggs if you wish. Sides such as the potato wedges, fries, and onion rings are also prepared just for you.
You get to pick the type of bun. They have ciabatta, brioche, and corn bread. Others though would like it to be carbs free so you could create a no bun burger.
Aside from these, you also have the option to make your own noodles. If you brought kids, they have a station just for them. With sliders, pizza, and even mac n cheese.
You'll be happy to know that they have Japanese rolls and freshly sliced sashimi.
Dessert is a big part of FLAVORS. They have a wide range of options for you to choose from.
You could go for their best sellers like the cheese cake and the brownie. You might also get nostalgic because they have the crepe samurai from the InterCon.
Flavors at the HOLIDAY INN MAKATI serves different AMERICAN THEMED dishes every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of JULY. Aside from the burger bar, one could also customize a taco and even a hotdog. Lunch buffet starts at Php 1,605 nett and Php 1818 nett for dinner. If you're in the area, a visit won't hurt.
