Sometimes it's quite hard to prepare your food when you're stuck at work or you don't have enough time. Thankfully, there's a store that prepare frozen ready to cook dishes and all preservative free. Say hello to TITALLENNIALS.
Titallennials is a store in Manila that caters to families. They have a number of dishes that's quick, easy to cook, and delicious to eat. Most are homemade but they also have different Chinese dishes to choose from that is perfect for shabu-shabu and even dimsum.
This time around, I was able to try out the smoked bacon and the Korean Pork Bbq. The bacon was pretty good as there's a deep flavor. Partnered with fried egg, you can't go wrong with this bacon for breakfast.
The KOREAN PORK BBQ was prepared very well. It was something that would make me have an extra order of rice. There's a bit of sesame flavor and the meat was tender. I really enjoyed it.
Aside from these preservative free, homemade products, TITALLENNIALS offers organic vegetables fresh from Baguio every Wednesday. They could also have the items delivered through Lalamove. No minimum amount required just payment for the shipping fee.

YURAKUEN: Japanese Teppanyaki in Diamond Hotel Manila

BURN BABY BURN! I was extremely excited to check out DIAMOND HOTEL'S YURAKUEN that particular night. Rather than just going for the exception Japanese dishes ala carte, I was there for the TEPPANYAKI BUFFET!
When one visits the TEPPANYAKI place of DIAMOND HOTEL MANILA, everything is set in motion once you take your seat. Appetizers are brought in front of you one after another.
Aside from the fresh sushi and sashimi, you are also given california rolls and other delicious choices for you to start feasting on.
The KANI SALAD was pretty good but what made my mouth salivate was the GINDARA. Perfectly covered with a sweet glaze, this fish was flavorful and delicious. Even the skin is a must eat as its texture gives you a bit of a crunch. You should definitely try this one.
For that night, the real meal started with some excellent execution of playful cooking. The chef knew how to entertain and create visually stunning moves. It was art in motion. The first part went with some vegetables.
Afterwards, it was the seafood's turn. When having TEPPANYAKI at YURAKUEN, I would suggest requesting for the big boys.
Go for the scallops. They are so plump and juicy. Definitely worth ordering more!
Finishing of the seafood and the veggies comes the main event. STEAK!
Different cuts of your favorite meat options are available. There are short ribs, tenderloin, and sirloin. Ask the chef to cook them based on your preference.
Personally, I would go for medium as the meat's flavor is still there and the juices are all intact.

Being able to go to a TEPPANYAKI place like the one at DIAMOND HOTEL MANILA makes one appreciate how the staff and the chef takes care of you and your food. Aside from the amazing entertainment you get from seeing your food cooked live and in front of you, you get to have a chance to just relax and have some fun. I could definitely say that the TEPPANYAKI BUFFET at YURAKUEN is one sweet deal. I can't wait to go back.
THE TEPPANYAKI BUFFET at YURAKUEN is available for lunch and dinner. Usually, there are a couple of seating times for both. Reservation is recommended especially when visiting on a weekend or a holiday. Head on over to Diamond Hotel's Website to check out their promotions with regards to this. I believe they offer it cheaper if you get a coupon from them. Enjoy!

EASY TO DO GRATIN WITH US FROZEN POTATOES

With the Christmas Season just around the corner, parties are starting to pop up left and right. Your high school classmates might organize a little get together. Family reunions are in the pipeline. Definitely, potlocks would be one of the things that you might need to plan for.
A simple dish that I love is potato gratin. It’s easy to cook and is fully loaded with energy. It’s one of my go to dishes for some of the get togethers I attend. My mother created an easy version that can serve a large number of guests without breaking the bank. It’s easy, fun and doesn’t involve too much hard work. This is my mom’s foolproof recipe of US FROZEN POTATO GRATIN.
For the ingredients, you would need.

1KG of US FROZEN POTATOES Preferably the SLICES.
3 TBSP Butter
3 TBSP All Purpose Flour
Salt and Pepper to Taste.
2 Cups Milk
Parsley
Parmesan Cheese
1-2 cloves of Garlic
Bacon Bits.
1)   Go to the nearest market like Rustan’s or SM and visit their frozen section.  Ingredient selection is important. Check out the different choices of ready to cook US FROZEN POTATO products.  I would suggest going for the US FROZEN POTATO SLICES. It’s already lightly salted and is easier to use as it’s perfectly cut for our needs. Plus, it’s pre-cooked already so it’s easier to bake.  Aside from these, most if not all of the ingredients that you would need could be found in your mother’s kitchen.

2)After gathering all the ingredients, the first step is to make the roux. This would be part of the sauce that would engulf the US FROZEN POTATOES.  You do this by mixing equal parts of butter and flour. First off, melt the butter in the pan. Add equal parts of flour and stir it around.
Once it’s starting to form, you can add milk slowly into the mixture. During this time, you could place in some crushed garlic to add a bit of zing. Pepper and salt too if you wish. Just remember that the US frozen potato slices are already salted a bit so you may want to only add a little. Once you get a semi-thick sauce consistency, it’s ready.
3)   Prepare the US Frozen Potatoes and place them in a circular manner on your baking dish. Spread them out evenly. Be sure to leave a bit of space to let the sauce in.
4)   Once you get the target consistency with regards to the liquid mixture, add it up to the potatoes.  Place your favorite cheese (mine’s parmesan) on top just to give it some extra color when you bake it.
 5)   During this time, preheat your oven to 475 °F or around 250 C. After such, place the baking dish in for roughly 10-15 minutes.

  6)   When you see a brownish color forming up, add the bacon on top and some chopped parsley. You could then leave it for a few more minutes just to toast everything.  It’s ready!
When picking up US FROZEN POTATOES, one thing I realized was that it’s an easier and affordable way of getting ingredients ready for any dish you might think of. It’s available in major markets like RUSTANS and SM and that’s basically everywhere.  It’s also cheaper than other similar products in the market.

FIREPLACE in NEW WORLD MANILA BAY: When it Comes to Steak

A dinner is never complete without something to be thankful for. At THE FIREPLACE in NEW WORLD MANILA BAY HOTEL, they are serious in servings its guests the best possible dishes that they can and for that diners are blessed and appreciative.
Just a week or so ago, FIREPLACE launched different dishes that serves AUSTRALIAN GRASS FED BEEF. Known for being nutritious, safe, and flavorful, AUSTRALIAN GRASS FED BEEF has a lot to offer. A good source of Omega-3 fatty acids, the meat has less saturated fat compared to others.
This time around, it was partnered and served with different dishes on the menu. One could start off with some Parmesan Flan. Almost custard like, this cheesy appetizer definitely whets the appetite.
Aside from that, they also offer some greens filled with luxurious seafood and even foie gras. This salad has got to be both healthy and decadent at the same time.
When ordering, never forget about their version of the mashed potato. The texture is very smooth and has a slight buttery and creamy taste. Having to crush the potatoes by hand spelled a great difference.
With the star of the show in mind. GRASSFED CARPACCIO was brought out. Thinly sliced high grade beef was transformed into something ingenious. Simple yet delicious.
Interesting enough, GRASSFED SINUGLAW was a recreation of a classic. Seared beef was used in partnership with tuna loin. A dab of calamansi and other spices created a perfect precursor to the main event.
Tremendously huge cuts of steak were up next. Sous Vide, these babies showed a lean yet packed image of what a steak should be.
One could choose between a tenderloin or a ribeye.
Cooked ever so gently, these steaks seems to be done medium to medium rare. Bursting with juices, each bite would take you to heaven. The meat from Australia seems to do the trick. The flavors were intense and delightful.
Available until August 20 in the FIREPLACE, the AUSTRALIAN GRASS FED BEEF is a great choice.

FILIPINO FOOD FESTIVAL AT DIAMOND HOTEL MANILA

Recently, Filipino Food has been in the spotlight for the numerous events that have happened here and abroad. With the Madrid Fusion here in Manila and in Spain and the World Street Food Festival, Filipino Food has been on the forefront. That's why most if not all are bringing their A game to the table.
With the upcoming Independence Day celebration, Diamond Hotel has partnered with Chef Tatung to create one amazing buffet. The FILIPINO FOOD FESTIVAL is happening from June 2 to June 12 at the DIAMOND HOTEL in Manila.
Chef Tatung has created numerous dishes that has captured the taste buds of both foreigners and locals alike. From burnt coconut to other traditionally cooked dishes, you won't go wrong with what ever he serves.
For something healthy, some fresh salad might do the trick. To warm the appetite, you could go for the SUAM NA MAIS soup. This is the Filipino version of the usual Corn Soup. Hearty and refreshing.
One is also greeted by a number of fresh seafood. You could have them cooked based on your preference. They have shrimps, crabs, clams, and other goodies to choose from.
Aside from these, there are also skewers that are grilled whenever you would want them. One would suggest the chorizo and the salmon to start things off.
Meat lovers would enjoy the DINAKDAKAN. Originating from Ilocos, Dinakdakan is a mixture of boiled and grilled pig parts. You could say that this is a bigger version of the SISIG.
Something Kapangpangan would be the BRINGHE. This is a paella like dish that is more fragrant and sticky. It's a nice side to partner with other main dishes.
Chef Tatung is known for his PIYANGGANG. A dish that originated from the Tausug, This is chicken mixed with a coconut flavor. Delicious and would go well with plain rice.
If there was one dish that would make you want to go back for more, it would be the HAMONADO. Pork cooked the Filipino way. A bit sweet because of the caramelization that occurred but is a must get.
The LECHON or roasted pig will forever be present when it comes to a Filipino gathering. This version goes extremely well with the liver sauce. The skin is crunchy while the meat is packed with flavors.
Dessert was well thought off as well. One could go for this salted egg braso or if you're lucky you might be able to catch the champorado.
The Filipino Food Festival would run until June 12, 2017. The buffet is pegged at Php 2,380 nett per person. Aside from these dishes, the buffet also offers their regular stations such as the Japanese, Chinese, Indian, and other dishes. With a minimum spend of Php 5,000, you could also get a chance to win airline tickets going to Cebu.
