MESMERIZING PALAWAN: ONE DAY IN CORON, PALAWAN

 A glimpse into paradise. That's how I saw Coron in Palawan. It was amazing. Everything was just wonderful.
 Flying to Coron, Palawan is easy. Just an hour away from Manila or Clark, you could land in BUSUANGA. Just 30 to 45 minute away from the airport, the town proper would greet you.
 Just on the outskirts, an amazing boutique hotel is present. Granted that it only has around 30 rooms and internet and cell signal isn't as great as it is in town, this place is worth the visit. It's just the perfect place to stay at. The FUNNY LION HOTEL in Busuanga is just relaxing.
 After checking in, you could head on over to town. At the dock, you get to see the CORON sign. It's actually a free place to go to. There's stairs that head up there for you to see the grand view.
 And that's the bay. There's a couple of hotels there that you might want to check out as well.
 If you need to relax and get your weary body a rest, I suggest visiting MAQUINIT HOT SPRING.  It's a bit off the usual path but it does let you enjoy the hot spring water coming from the mountains.
Most if not all of the tours out to CORON and nearby islands dust off from the main port area. If you get a tour, usually a van would pick you up from your hotel and bring you here.
If there was one tour that you would pick, go with the KAYANGAN LAKE. Don't be surprised as this poster card picture isn't the actual lake. This is from the viewing deck a few hundred steps up. The lake itself is on the other side. There, you get to frolic in the water and do a bit of floating. Remember to bring a vest as they won't allow you to swim without one.
A few minutes out, you could also visit CALACHUCHI beach. Here, the front part is covered with calachuchi trees. Hence, the name.
 This is where we were able to try out the freshly cooked food the boatman prepared for us. They actually cook it while in transit.
Just in front of the beach, there's a small coral area that has tons of fishes. There, you could see schools of fishes surround you.
 Another place not to miss would be SIETE PECADOS MARINE PARK. These are small islet that are surrounded by corals. As such, there are a number of sea creatures that lurk and swim in the area.
 After everything, you will definitely be full. Here are some of the dishes we tried at in THE FUNNY LION HOTEL.
In terms of the food, Busuanga's town proper isn't really the place to be at when you're craving for a specific dish. The restaurants we tried were just okay. In case you didn't know, BUSUANGA hasn't let big corporations and franchises show up. There's no McDonald's nor Jolibee there. We did enjoy and chose to just eat in the Funny Lion instead.
 You could have a few snacks by the pool. The Calamares are pretty good and and cheese fries not bad.
 Their rooftop turns into a bar starting after lunch and even has an acoustic band play during specific days in the week.
I think it's the chill vibe, excellent marine sanctuaries, and the view that makes CORON a must visit place when in the PHILIPPINES.

A beer, book, and some peanuts. Staying in a jacuzzi and watching the sunset is one of the best things you could do. Relax and enjoy the ride. Welcome to the Philippines!

5 Things to do in LIO, EL NIDO in PALAWAN.

Summer is definitely not yet over. Even if we experience colder summer nights in Manila, a trip to the beach would definitely make your vacation one heck of an experience. Voted as one of the best islands in the world, PALAWAN just might be your next summer bet. Here, you get to see nature as it is. Untouched and almost virgin like, it's a whole different ball game here. HERE ARE 5 THINGS TO DO in LIO, EL NIDO in PALAWAN.
The first question would have to be how to get there. LIO, El Nido is located in the northern part of Palawan. It could be reached via AIR SWIFT that flies out of NAIA terminal 4 and lands in LIO AIRPORT. From here it's only a few minutes to LIO TOURISM ESTATE where you could check out CASA KALAW (One of heck of a stay which you can read about out here). Other than that, you could fly to the newly renovated and improved PUERTO PRINCESA AIRPORT. This route is a bit tiresome though as you would have to take a land trip that could last more than 4 hours.
1) GO ISLAND HOPPING. El Nido is known for different islands that have their own unique characteristics to entice you to come on over.
Here, you could lounge at the beach or even do a bit of snorkeling. Pawikans or Philippine Sea Turtles could be seen around the different islands as well.
If you only have a few days in PALAWAN, SKIPPER CHARTERS would one of the best ways to check out the different islands. Since they operate a speed boat, they are able to bring you to more locations faster and easier compared to other pump boats. Furthermore, they have an excellent guide that would come with you and assist with everything. Service is their bottom line.
2) DO A MINI FOOD CRAWL.  SHOPS at LIO is the beachfront area that has different stores and businesses to cater to your needs. It's here that you could check out a number of bars, cafe, and restaurants. From fresh seafood to amazing cocktail drinks, you won't go wrong visiting this place. 3) DO BEACH ACTIVITIES. LIO in EL NIDO is blessed with a 4 km stretch of beach front. Here, you could do a number of beach activities that would make your stay worthwhile.
One could rent kayaks and even go paddle boarding. You could even explore the place by going on a bamboo bike. For group of friends, they also offer beach volleyball right there by the shore.
4) KEEP IN TOUCH WITH NATURE. LIO TOURISM ESTATE goes for a very responsible approach when it comes to mother earth. They try to keep everything in line with social responsibility. From here, you could roam around and see the greenery by riding a kayak around a majestic lake. Also, you could do a farm tour that showcases how they are able to produce fresh, organic, and delicious vegetables and fruits.
5) WATCH THE SUNSET. Your first day in LIO, EL NIDO would not be complete without watching the sun set. Just stroll by the beach and look at that amazing view. It's like God planned everything perfectly and it makes you appreciate His work more.

CASA KALAW: Paradise in LIO, EL NIDO

 It was a tropic adventure like no other. Voted as one of the best islands in the world, PALAWAN is no doubt just an amazing place to be in. Thinking where to go and what to do is but a step away. At CASA KALAW, they take care of everything.
 CASA KALAW is one of the few hotel resorts that is located inside LIO TOURISM ESTATE in EL NIDO, PALAWAN. Developed by AYALA, this 325 hectare land would be home to multiple hotels, sanctuaries, restaurants, malls, eco villages, jetty port, and even an airport. Flying in would be a breeze. With AIR SWIFT, you land in LIO AIRPORT. Just 15 minutes away from El Nido Town Proper and around 2 minutes away from LIO, you're definitely close to where the action is.
 One could think of LIO as a town that has everything. Easily accessible and one with nature. It gives comfort to its visitors and is still responsible towards mother nature. Of the 325 hectares, only 55 % would be developed while the remaining land would be remain as open space reserve.
 CASA KALAW itself is just a couple of minutes away from the 4km beach front. It started with 42 rooms and would cater mostly to families and balikbayans. Even so, there are a lot of westerners that stay at the resort.
 Everything was well thought off. Designed by award winning contractors and artists, this hotel blends in with nature. Indigenous crafts were mostly used to create the design and feel of the resort.
Rooms are well ventilated with the a/c and the ceiling fans. Each has a balcony or a deck just outside the rooms for guests to relax at.
 In-room amenities would include coffee, tea, hair blower, and of course cable tv. Hot and cold water makes the shower perfect. No worries for the gadget geeks as there are a lot of wall sockets available for them to use. Internet is not yet steady in the hotel but the wireless LTE connection offered by Globe is fast and reliable.
 Furthermore, sustainability is a big part of CASA KALAW. Here, they opted to use reusable vessels as means to store soap, shampoo and other toiletries.
 Aside from the pool, everyone could check out the gaming area. Here, they could go for a round of darts, table tennis, billiards, foosball, and other board games to spend the time away.
  Breakfast is nothing to worry about as CASA KALAW offers a wide range of items that would cater to everyone's diet. They have fresh vegetables, fruits, meat options, and even an egg/waffle/pancake station. The buffet also serves cereals, cheese, and even hot soup to start everything right.
